I love arguing, it's one of my favorite forms of play. I enjoy uncommon words; I think they're "good." I enjoy other languages and have been known to throw in a phrase in some random language if I feel the conversation will be better served by doing so. Sometimes I even understand the language I use. I also find silly cartoons endlessly amusing. And I love explaining very trivial and/or simple things in excruciating detail. In short, I will keep you on your toes and I really hope you will do the same for me.
Master and Margarita, any of the four Kundera novels that I've read, The Count of Monte Cristo, and virtually anything by Bill Bryson, Bill James, and William Goldman (his nonfiction...haven't read his novels yet, though I have read several screenplays).
Isn't it odd that my top three nonfiction authors are all named William?
Sneakers is my favorite movie. There has virtually never been a time when, if someone said, "hey, you wanna watch Sneakers?" I'd say "nah, not really in the mood." There are other movies I recognize as being weightier, but really, how often are you in the mood to sit down and watch all of Yojimbo? (for example).
I am so absurdly out of touch with music I'm about two steps away from saying, "There's this new young fella out of Austria, name of Mozart something." I like all kinds of stuff, I just don't know what most of it is. Dylan's good, obviously. I've been getting more into jazz this past year. And I like showtunes. Yeah, I said it.
Sing, "one of these things is not like the others..." Books, movies, music...and food. Do they mean favorite food to watch or listen to? As a point of interest, I remember hearing once about how fresh fruit was the most perfect food because it's good on all the senses. They taste good; most fruits are pretty to look at; they smell good; umm, some of them feel good I guess, but let's not get kinky just yet. And hearing. Ok, forget hearing. Still. Anyway, to answer the question, I like a lot of foods, but I love pasta. And my favorite vegetable is corn. Now you know everything.
2. Books. Lots of books.
2 1/2. Bookcases (Well...)
3. Ellipses (I'm not quite sure why, but it's true...)
(parentheses seem to be a common theme as well...)
4. People I love (though I imagine they'd object to being
included in a list of "things"...)
5. Silliness (and accompanying laughter, chuckles, smiles,
eye-rolling, jumping up and clapping hands, etc.)
6. Seriousness (for balance and because thinking is really important too. And sometimes you just need to breathe a bit.)
