I am blunt, patient, and cynical.

My Self-Summary

I hate this damn question. It's...so vague. It's a little insulting to the nature of a personality to imply that you can fit a decent description into a few sentences. You want to know something? Ask. You want to know what I'm like? Take the time to get to know me. There are no shortcuts.

What I’m doing with my life

Currently, working at a bookstore/cafe and going to college for my Psych degree. If that fails, though, there's always Ancient Egypt.

Oh, Ancient Egypt. I don't think the world will ever understand our love. ♥

I’m really good at

Writing. Not going to toot my own horn, but there are times when I'm just absolutely kickass.

Languages. Behind writing - or, I suppose, as part of it - it is my greatest passion. Especially the ones you don't find in a generic high schools - Arabic, Japanese, etc. I'm currently trying to teach myself Romanian, along with waking up my mediocre German.

Also, cooking. I love food in general, and I love making it. The smell, the sound, the colors, the absolute warmth it gives off when you know you've done it right... Yeah. :D

The first things people usually notice about me

I don't really know. It's not like I go around asking everyone what they noticed about me. Granted, I don't stick out much in a crowd.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Alice in Wonderland is my absolute favorite book, and I'm very fond of George R. R. Martin's 'A Song of Ice and Fire'. The Historian was excellent (and for that matter, Dracula belongs on this list). And House of Leaves is just absolutely guh. Also comics (*gasp*) - inquire within for coinciding interests in this area. On the flip side, I loathe Anne Rice. As a person, that is; I have nothing against her work, mostly because I haven't read it, what with me loathing her as a person and all. Dan Brown isn't high on my list of regards, either.

Movies: I love The Dark Knight, The Lion King, Pan's Labyrinth, 300, The Fountain, and the Ocean's movies. However, none of these are my favorite movie.

Music: It's really pretty rare to find music I won't listen to - I dislike specific songs (or, on rare occasions, specific artists), not specific genres. I suppose my favorites include Tricky, Ludovico Einaudi, Röyksopp, E.S. Posthumus, and yes, a bit of the mainstream, like Muse and Three Days Grace. My favorite song of all time is a cover of a cover of a cheesy 80s song - brownie points (redeemable only for real brownies :|) for whoever gets the song and artist. Good luck.

Food: I love food. I love food. Once more with feeling: I love food. I love cooking it, I love watching it being cooked, love smelling it, looking at pictures of it, and most importantly, I love eating it. In particular, I'm fond of meats (lamb and bacon especially) and potatoes. Nuts are ace, too.

Bonus Section! Video Games: Final Fantasy (IX is my favorite, followed by VI - I couldn't get through XII, though I certainly tried); Fire Emblem; Pokemon (Silver is the best of the series, easily - the rest are more or less irrelevant); Phoenix Wright; and Tekken. I don't care how good you are, I can kick your ass with Hwoarang. This I promise.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Everything. You name it, I've devoted a good few minutes to thinking it through. (Please note that this is not a challenge. "I bet you haven't thought of this, have you?" is not a good icebreaker - it comes off as patronizing and obnoxious, and will get you ignored. Just getting that out of the way after scores of messages starting with that.)

On a typical Friday night I am

Waiting for something exciting to happen, I suppose. Or, alternatively, working.

And if neither of those, it's very likely that I've gotten myself stuck in the black hole that is TVTropes. Would look for someone to save me and drag me out, but look at all the cool stuff! :D

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Ask me anything; if I don't answer, well, there you go.

You should message me if

You...want to message me. You're going to whether I tell you to or not, so go ahead and message away. I can't guarantee an answer (especially if you seem obnoxious), but, hey, nothing stopping you, right?
