I am passionate, creative, and spontaneous.
My Self-Summary
Happiness is saying "yes" more often than "no." Why do tomorrow
what you could do today?
Burning Man
freakjob,
urban
explorer by night...
Now in French
Si on dit «oui» plus qu'on dit «non» nous serrai plus heureuse.
Pourquoi fait demain ce qu'on peut faire aujourd'hui?
What I’m doing with my life
Life is in flux, and what other way should it be?
I just got back from
Burning Man with an incredible
upswell of energy and confidence - ready to take on the world! I'm
leaving my dull airline job in a few months to persue whatever
finds me be that manual labour or web videos (not THOSE kind
sheesh). Hopefully more on the artistic and activist side of things
but we'll see. I keep my flight benefits for another three years so
I'll be a free spirit travelling where I find things to inspire and
be inspired by.
Someone recently described me as an instigator - and I like that.
I'm a never ending well of ideas, the more I consume, the more I
create. That's my goal, to be an alchemist transforming the world
one piece at a time.
So this all sounds rather airy fairy. Well, I like to
photograph and
video and
film things. I like to dress up and
behave strangely. I like to be physically active though I'm much
more interested in things like
circus than I am organized sports. I also
believe that being kind to oneself and taking care of oneself is a
thousand times more important than money, fame or approval.
Overall I like to play. Play is how we grow and I don't think we
ever stop growing, so why stop playing?

I’m really good at
Keeping my word. My word is my bond, I take promises very very
seriously. I'm also stubbornly, some would say stupidly
honest.
Lets see what else? I listen. How crazy is that?
The first things people usually notice about me
I wear a lot of military gear. I'm not a survivalist or
militaristic, far from it - I just like the clothes.
Of course I also dress in pirate costumes, pinstripe suits and any
number of other things - depending on the day.
People just getting to know me often tell me I'm smart. That's
nice, I'll take that. Just don't expect me to do math.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Gravity's
Rainbow by
Thomas Pynchon wins hands down as
my all time favourite read. Most people find it painful if not
impossible, but it works for me.
I enjoy fringe/cult literature, sci-fi and fantasy;
Brautigan,
Vonnegut,
Kafka,
Poe,
Orson Scott Card,
Ballard,
Roald Dalh,
William Gibson,
Douglas Adams,
Perfume,
Wicked,
Blind,
Sewer Gas &
Electric - things that are out of the ordinary, but not
nerdy.
I also really like non-fiction from
Hunter S. Thompson to
philosophy or
strange science like
The Holographic
Universe or
The Man Who Tasted
Shapes. I just love the possibility that abounds in strange but
true stories and science. Its inspiring for my own writing and
creating.
As a filmmaker I watch just about any kind of movie, but only a few
really manage to grab me. It could be a foreign action film like
Hero, something
quirky like
Amelie
or a cinematic masterpiece like
Apocalypse Now or it could be
some B-grade trash like
The Toxic Avenger. A few more
examples before you die of boredom;
Fight Club,
Moulin Rouge,
Citizen Kane,
The Big
Sleep,
Memento,
Flying Dragon,
Leaping Tiger,
Kontroll,
Koyanisqatsi,
The Cabinet of
Dr. Caligari, the list goes on forever. Many films I've sadly
forgotten the names of.
In terms of music my tastes are... eclectic. From techno to classic
rock to jazz, as long as there's soul behind it.
This is turning into a load of lists. Suffice it to say I don`t
have clearly defined tastes. From literature to music to food.
Highbrow or lowbrow it doesn't matter. What matters is how it makes
you feel.
I do get poutine cravings at random.
The six things I could never do without
Friends, Camera, Music, Nature, Art, Adventure.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Scenes, shots, lighting setups and angles. Its ridiculous really. I
turn everything into a movie. I also just like running hypothetical
situations in my head, like if I were a spy trying to get into that
building how would I do it, or if there were a tiny change in the
laws of physics, how would that change the world...
So... if you ever ask what I'm thinking. Be prepared for the
result.
On a typical Friday night I am
Putting the finishing touches on the latest piece of art or strange
contraption. After that drinks at the pub, maybe a live show, open
mic at a secret underground location, or a movie, or fire spinning
in the parc or maybe going out and climbing onto a rooftop - just
because. Mind you I'm up for anything, I love trying out new
things, and Montreal's full of new things every day.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I was going to remove the picture of me in the army helmet figuring
it might scare some girls away (in fact I know for a fact it has).
Then I got to thinking. If someone knows me long enough they will
eventually walk in on me wearing a pith helmet, goggles and
underwear, dancing around my apartment with a plastic sword to
gypsy punk music. So... might as well ease them into it.
You should message me if
You're madly
passionate about something, other
than money. You like to take risks. You're confident. You love
yourself. You enjoy unique experiences. Random adventures don't
bother you. You like roses, chocolate and wine as much as you like
mud, macaroni & cheese and tequila. Did I mention you need to
be passionate about something?
