I am loyal, punk, and honest.
My Self-Summary
Is there anything more difficult than trying to sum up your entire
being in an essay? Maybe figuring out why Paris Hilton is a
celebrity, but it would be close call. Anyway... How do I describe
myself? Well, I can start with the basics, I suppose. Tall, in
reasonably good shape, shaved head and blue eyes. I am a veteran of
the Navy, Marine Corps, and Army where I served as a combat medic
(Hospital Corpsman to be specific). I have one tattoo on my left
shoulder. I love
rugby and football. I also like
reading,
writing, and
going to the movies. As far
as personality... well, here it get's difficult. See, I don't know
how to describe myself. I know I am sarcastic at times, I like
telling
jokes, being around my friends, and enjoying the company of a
special someone when there has been one in my life. I tend to be
easy going for the most part, but I can be stubborn if I feel
really strongly about something. I am loyal to fault, and my
friends will always be my friends. My best friend describes me as
Colossus from the X-men (yep, we're geeks.). He says that while I
am laid back and easy-going, every now and then I look like I want
to hit someone with something big and heavy... like a tank. Which
is probably true. I suppose it's that part of my personalty that
makes me like
punk
music so much. Ah, well... you are who are, and you should only
change if you don't like that person. And I like myself.
Personally, I think I'm a hell of a guy. I also like cheesy 80's
movies, so my tastes may be a little "skewed".
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to find everlasting happiness and true love... and a really
good bar. Also learning how to play the bass (the musical
instrument, not the fish), studying up for applying to a Masters
program in Ethics, realizing that having a degree in English
actually helps in a multitude of ways that have nothing to do with
an English degree, and trying to understand just what exactly is
the point of capers on food....
I’m really good at
Rugby,
video
games, trivia, reaching things on the top shelf, and changing
light bulbs. I can listen to my friends vent (i.e bitch) about
almost anything as well. I am a pretty good supplier of brute
force, but finesse isn't my thing in most cases. I am not afraid of
hard work, either physical or mental, and I can be somewhat
bull-headed when it comes to not letting go of a problem that
hasn't been resolved. I am a decent cook, and love to do it, and I
can make a pretty wide variety of dishes... from Japanese to
Tuscan, Vegan to down-home Southern cookin'. My best dish... Drunk
Chicken, from a recipe my Grandmother taught me. Make a mean
lasagna, as well.
I can carry on a conversation on almost any subject. Not that I am
a know-it-all, but I am not afraid to ask questions to try to
garner more information.
I like to shoot targets, and am a decent shot with a rifle, a
little better with a pistol. Don't own any firearms myself, though.
Not a lack of desire to, but a lack of a reasonable excuse to put
up the expense.
The first things people usually notice about me
My height. Always. Every time without exception. And please don't
ask if I play basketball... or how the weather is up here. Really,
it's not funny anymore (although I still get a kick out of the
"Holy Crap!" response.).
And if I am sitting, my shaved head.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
A) Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, 1632 by Eric Flint, The Dortmunder
series by Donald Westlake, and The Dresden Novels by... um, Butcher
is the last name.
B) The Boondock Saints, Ocean's Eleven, and anything Monty
Python
C) Punk, preferably the Real McKenzies, Dropkick Murphys, or Far
From Finished. Also, big fan of Social Distortion
D) Sushi, Mexican (Not available in Idaho, apparently), Italian,
and seafood
The six things I could never do without
1) Food
2) Air
3) Water
4) Movies
5) Punk Rock
6) Friends
This list is not in the order of importance...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Friends, family, money, world affairs, and
planning trips.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out drinking with my friends, or playing games with my
friends...
or sleeping.
This is, of course, ideally. In actuality, I am usually sitting in
front of the T.V. or computer because I just got here and I don't
have any friends yet!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
When I was younger, I wished that I could be "Buckaroo Bonzai".
You should message me if
you want to. It is a free country after all... Also, if you think I
just might be fun to chat with.
