I am laid-back, free-thinking, and kind of a big deal.

My Self-Summary

My name is Mike.

I'm 24 years old and I'm currently living within that exciting/scary limbo phase John Mayer once called the "quarter life crisis." I have a great job, but no great ambition. I know what I want to accomplish in life, but have no real direction. I'm happy, but I'm not content. And I'm kinda just waiting for something to happen next.

In my spare time, I write short stories and music. I sing in the car and in the shower, but rarely in front of anyone else (this is probably for the best) unless we're talking drunk karaoke!

Despite my hatred of Mathematics, somehow I managed to receive a Master's Degree in Economics. This is very surprising, and somewhat disturbing to me. Sometimes I think my diplomas must have been issued by mistake.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If your name is also Mike, you're from Chicago, and you just LOVE differential calculus, quadratic equations, and Adam Smith, please message me IMMEDIATELY - I think I have your diploma).

What I’m doing with my life

I don't know "what I want to do with my life", at least not in terms of a career. I think of a job more as an unavoidable consequence of growing up, which only exists to provide me with the financial means to do what I want on my free time.

That being said, I work as an economist for a major electrical utility in Illinois (guess which one). It's not that interesting - but I'm making good money. I guess I like what I do, though I don't necessarily think people have to like what they do for a living.

But like I said, I'm happy doing what I do. With a Master's in Economics, the possibilities are quite endless, and I'm satisfied right now.

I’m really good at

I think what I'm best at is pointing out extremely vague uses for the "that's what she said" line. No one else seems to consider this a "talent."

Fuck 'em.

I also like/am good at: playing the guitar, playing video games, sex, cooking, telling stories, arguing, and fighting crime.

The first things people usually notice about me

My tattoos. I have 13.

I'm also pretty sure most people think I'm either Mexican or Asian or some combination of the two (See: Chexican). I'm actually Irish.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Anything Chuck Palahniuk puts on paper is a-ok with me. I also like The Jungle, The Fountainhead, Crime & Punishment, Devil in the White City, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and Natures Numbers: The Unreal Reality of Mathematics - quite possibly the only interesting math book ever written.

Movies: Dead Poet's Society, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, V for Vendetta, Anything with Will Ferrell/Steve Carell/Seth Rogan, Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet, The Dark Knight, etc.

Music: My music tastes vary too greatly to include here. Some genres I enjoy are: Alternative, Pop, Punk, Pop-Punk, Blues, and pretty much anything even remotely radio-friendly from the 90s.

Food: I used to be a picky eater, but I grew out of that. I think it's because I lost my sense of smell. Foods I enjoy include: Pizza, Pasta, Hot Dogs, Sushi, and Chinese Food.

The six things I could never do without

1. Friends
2. Music
3. Food/Water/Air
4. Mental exercise
5. My guitar(s)
6. Something beautiful

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What I'm going to do with my life, what I would really do in the event of a Zombocalypse, what I would do if I ran the country, and interviewing myself as if I were famous (that last one only happens when I'm in the car by myself and not singing).

On a typical Friday night I am

Either drinking, hanging out, drinking and hanging out, working, or fighting crime.

...mostly fighting crime.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm batman.

Seriously.

You should message me if

You want to know the meaning of life/entirely useless information.

Or if you could see the possibility of us being friends.
