I'm a pansexual, polyamorous geek interested in woodwork, self-sufficient living, permaculture and ecovillages.

My wife and I moved to Auckland at the start of 2007 (from Melbourne) to live in a cohousing neighbourhood (earthsong.org.nz). We are enjoying it a lot, although we miss all our wonderful geeky, kinky friends in Melbourne.

I'm pretty passionate about woodwork, and I spend far too long crafting beautiful joints when no doubt a couple of screws would suffice. We're planning a move to an ecovillage on the south island and we're currently designing things that need to be built for our initial accommodation.

I love arguing about politics and philosophy, and would describe myself as extremely libertarian, possibly even an anarchist, although some of my views on how the world should be organised swing from the far left to the libertarian right depending on how much Heinlein I've been reading recently. I'm an active participant in Transition Towns activities, which promote creating vibrant local communities as a response to climate change and peak oil.

I'm a freelance programmer, currently working predominantly in Ruby (that's a programming language). I'm in the garden a lot, the workshed a lot, and in a few months, I'm going to be a dad.

Programming, obviously, but so are lots of other people.

I'm passionately interested in woodwork, such as cabinet making and traditional joinery techniques. I wouldn't describe myself as good at it, in comparison to people who actually are good at it, but I do a lot of it, and I can build cool things.

I'm a science fiction fan of course. I love Heinlein, and a lot of other sci-fi that touches on themes of pioneering, and on polyamory. A few other of my favourite writers are: Peter F Hamilton, Robin Hobb, Charles DeLint, Neil Gaiman, Neal Stephenson, Octavia Butler, Joss Whedon.
