The Jaded Villain
Your enemies haven't heard of you--yet. You have cautiously remained under their radar for years, plotting out your day of reckoning. You have many minions who you either pay really well, or really believe in what you're trying to do. No one follows you because they like you. No one likes you, except maybe your mother, and you treat her like crap. You have no lovers, no one wants to sleep with you. Probably the people you are closest to are your advisers; you only hire people for that position that you respect.
Should you ever achieve world domination, you would spend most of your time trying to quell rebellions. Your subjects would be very unhappy, there'd be too much infighting among your minions, and eventually some average joe-shmoe you slighted in the past and completely forgot about would assassinate you while your bodyguards just watched and did nothing.
My advice is to find a scapegoat for the people to blame their troubles on. Someone naive and gullible who would eagerly take the position of (false) power you offer them. Then take a backseat (at least let everyone think that's what you're doing) and watch the hordes of angry peasants collect your protege's head. Good luck!
