M1895 Nagant
-37 Anglo-American; -3 Automatic; 7 Powerful; -5 Modern and -18 Stylish.
Continental - Revolver - Powerful
The M1895 Nagant, used by Russia in both world wars, is typical of the increasingly-obsolescent revolvers still in use by European powers. Its most notable characteristic is its unique gas-seal system, achieved by combining special cartidges with an unusual cylinder-mechanism. This system, designed to give slightly higher muzzle velocities, also had the effect of making the revolver one of only a handful compatible with a silencer, potential not lost on Soviet secret police and intelligence agencies.
Calibre: 7.62x38mmR
Magazine: 7-round cylinder
Introduced: 1895
Some of the other revolvers in use in Europe were the French M1892 (8x27mmSR, 6-round cylinder, introduced 1892), the Austro-Hungarian Rast & Gasser m1898 (8.1x27mm, 8-round cylinder, introduced 1898), the German Mauser M1883 Reichsrevolver (10.6x25R, 6-round cylinder, introduced 1883), the Italian Bodeo M1889 (10.35mm Glisenti, 6-round cylinder, introduced 1889) and the Swiss Schmidt M1882/29 (7.5mm, 6-round cylinder, introduced 1929).
