You know that part of being a submissive is the willingness to do something asked of you, even if that thing may be something you don't want to do. You are willing to discuss issues you may have, though, which is definately a good thing.
You are also able to think for yourself, and know that being a doormat isn't very appealing at all. You realize that asking someone to make every little decision for you would probably drain all the life out of them. And you definately don't want some little husk of a man/woman to be your Dominant!
Still, you might have a few things to work through. Maybe you're still having issues with communication; for all it's thrown around in the M/s world, sometimes it's hard to do. Or you may still have a few issues with surrendering your complete control to a Dominant.
I have no doubt, though, that with time you will become a great submissive. There is no perfect submissive, but there are many great ones. ;)
