A Love Not Lost

We first met in October 2007, and after playing what he called 'profile tag' (i.e., us clicking on each other's photos daily), he broke the game and actually messaged me. It was pure coincidence, as he had literally joined the day before I had - and I noticed in his profile he was fond of the band 'Modest Mouse,' whom I had only discovered a week before. At first we didn't think our friendship would last as he was in Santa Clara, USA, and I was in London, UK - but after nearly 2 months of daily communicating (texting, emailing, phone/video calls), he suggested that I come visit him in November 2007, before we went away for our Christmas holidays. I flew to San Francisco on November 29, and we became a couple November 30 - and on June 11, we became engaged!

Sadly, we broke up in March 2009 and although our love story didn't last, we both experienced love in a way we had never felt before - enough to want us to make the ultimate commitment and get married. Although we didn't work out, it was a one in a million chance to find someone so compatible on a popular dating website, even with the huge distance (and time difference) between us.

Our engagement was the first time it had happened to either of us, and meeting each other was the best thing that had ever happened to us. Meeting someone in such a short space of time and pledging your love to one another in possibly the most life-changing way ever, is thanks to this site - and whilst we are no longer together, it helped us believe in love. And if it can happen to us, it can happen to anyone.
