The Distance Doesn't Matter
It feels like we live in a movie!!!
I'll try to sum it up as much as its possible. First of all, I live in Sonora, Mexico and he lives in Kalispell, Mt. That’s 1330 miles and seems like two different worlds.
In September of 2009, I was unemployed and bored. I was messing around on OkCupid, mainly being entertained by your fun quizzes and personality test. This guy kept popping as one of the highest matches for me. I thought he was cute and clicked. After reading his profile and looking at his pictures I was impressed that he seemed like a “real normal guy”. The best part was that he was super good looking… so I rated him 5 stars.
Five minutes later I get a message from him talking about weather and life. Again, it was just “regular stuff”. Most messages I got were cheesy or creepy.
I replied and then the IM window popped and we started chatting there…
1 hour went by.. and then 2 hours... and then 12 hours!!! We couldn’t stop talking. This went on and on for 3 months, we used phone, email, text, msn, facebook, webcam, all day every day.
November 2009, we decided to meet. I picked a neutral spot. I didn’t want him to be stuck here or me there if we didn’t like each other, so Vegas it was. I figured if it didn’t work we’d still have a fun weekend.
So away I went, by myself, headed to Vegas to meet a guy from the internet.
We met at the lobby of the MGM and had the best weekend ever.
February 2010, I flew to Montana and spent 11 days there, and met his family and friends. I fell in love with this AMAZING and beautiful man that treats me like a princess. I came back home and we decided to be en an exclusive relationship.
April 2010, he came to Mexico to meet my family and friends. We spent 10 days on a beautiful beach, and we said I love you for the first time. It was perfect.
In May, we talked about spending more time together for the relationship to really work. We needed to see the good, the bad and the ugly, so I went to Montana to live and share everything with him for 3 months.
In October 2010, we knew we were serious, and he came over for my sister’s wedding with his parents so they could meet my mom and family. The wedding was amazing and our families loved each other. The day after the wedding he grabbed me by the hand, took me away from everyone and walked on the beach to the shore..
He said i looked beautiful, knelt and with teary eyes asked me if i would marry him. I said yes and promised him I would make him happy for the rest of his life. Full moon, dinner on the beach, both our families and friends. It was the best night of both our lives.
Now we are planning a wedding, and our families are spending the holidays together in Montana.
So here we are, happy and in love. Thanking you for this wonderful site. If it wasn’t for you guys, I would’ve probably never met my fiancé.
"Every day we battle with distance, language, expensive trips... but it is all worth it. I never thought I could be this happy. I am so glad we didn’t hear everyone who thought we were crazy for doing this and took the risk. Good luck to you all!!
My best tip: Answer as many questions as you can... our match % was 97!!!"
