Ike was abusive.  Tina was cool.  6' tall mostly legs.  Good lookin woman.  Rich woman.  Sadly, Tina renounced her American citizenship yesterday.  She's going to permenantly reside in Switzerland.  Wonderful country.  Wonderful people.  We all know why she's gone.  barry must not like "Proud Mary".  Tina , Phil , and millions of small business owners as well.

This should be happy news for you. Anna Mae Bullock is 73 and eligible for SS. I would assume that part of renouncing US citizenship also alters her SS status, but I may be wrong.

You can't take it with you when you die and I imagine Turner is aware of that so I doubt that her motives are strictly financial if she goes through with it.

When you say millions of small business owners you really mean about 10 don't you?

Morning Cat ; you are entitled to receive SS in foreign lands.  So yes, make your plans for the orient .  As I recall, you like it there.  Much more than 10.  We've only just begun.  This tax year is still subject to previous breaks.  The poop's not on the wall yet.  I'll say 2015 , confiscations and seizures will prevail.  Hold on tight..................keep and protect the right to bear arms ; you are your only  defense against coercion and tyranny.

Jan 26, 2013 6:28am

you are entitled to receive SS in foreign lands.

As a US citizen.

I'll check that.  Just heard we can include Tiger Woods with the afore mentioned x-pats as well.  Will the last successful person left in the US please turn out the light?  Sens . Shumer and Brown promise more taxation at the state level.  Your assets are at stake ; leave nothing on the table.

Oh noes!!! The machinery is collapsing! Where's John Galt???

Oh, and Tina Turner has been living in Zurich with her manager since 1995.

Such a shame the right winger tea baggers have nothing but lies and bullshit.......

Tina Turner wants to become a Swiss citizen, and love has everything to do with it.

If you've been wondering what the iconic diva has been up to lately, she's been living in Kuesnacht, a Zurich suburb, since 1995.

A Swiss paper wrote Friday that the 73-year-old had been granted citizenship, according to the Associated Press. The Nutbush, Tenn.-born singer has passed a local civics test and interview.

"I'm very happy in Switzerland and I feel at home here.... I cannot imagine a better place to live," Turner said in Blick, a German newspaper.

The singer wanted to "clarify her situation," Turner's rep told the Swiss newspaper Zuerichsee-Zeitung.

"Tina Turner will therefore also give back her U.S. citizenship," her rep said.

But the decision still needs to be approved by the Swiss state, or canton of Zurich, and federal authorities before the red passport is awarded.

Turner first went to Switzerland with German record executive Erwin Bach, her longtime music manager, and has been living with him in a lake house called Chateau Algonquin, ABC News reports

The mayor of Brownsville, Tenn., of which Nutbush is an unincorporated area, told FOX411 she was "surprised" when she learned of Turner's decision.

"Tina Turner — as she has gotten worldwide fame — has never forgotten her roots," Mayor Jo Matherne said.

"I think anytime a person, whether they're world-renowned or the most meek and mild, makes the decision to change their citizenship we need to step back and think what causes that decision," she added.

Turner, born Anna Mae Bullock, rose to fame as part of a music duo with husband Ike Turner. Their tumultuous relationship, which included domestic abuse allegations, launched her solo career in the 1970s and she kept her husband's last name. She filed for divorce in 1974, and the 14-year marriage officially ended in 1978.

I don't understand it, but being full of shit seems to be a really serious problem for the right.......

If Tina remembers life in the segerated south in the 1950's she probably would like to give back her citizenship as a way to say fuck you to America.

Jan 27, 2013 7:13pm

Damn right she couldn't find a better place to live.  We all admit to loving Suisse.  Why?  Lack of government intrusion is why.  Imagine a country actually  having a business model.  I see no where above mentioned where Tina was looking for a society raising taxes and snatching guns.

Jan 28, 2013 3:28am

I see nowhere where she mentions anything at ALL about taxes or guns.

We all know why she's gone.

Since she's been living there since 1995 why do YOU think she's gone? From that sentence you are saying you KNOW so tell us, please. Why HAS she been living in Switzerland since 1995?

Jan 28, 2013 4:07am

Keeping the money and rights you have earned was as important then as now.  Why has she waited until now to relinquish her citizenship? By 1995 the fiscal handwriting was already on the wall.  Personally, socialism has been creeping into the economy for years; Suisse for example welcomes the successful not immigrants illegally ursurping citizens services.

We all like keeping our money and rights.  Black or white.  Left or right.  Your ifo , however, shows her to be smart enough not to be a race baiter or barry phile.  Smart woman.

Jan 28, 2013 4:23am

She endorsed President Obama in 2008, lol. And she never mentioned money as a reason for living in Europe since 1995. She said it's because Europe is a more comfortable place for blacks!

Reading is fun-damental!

I know the right doesn't really bother about facts though, so.....

Jan 28, 2013 4:46am

She's also very much into Buddhism, which I don't think has anything to do with the "I got mine so go fuck yourself" philosophy.

Jan 28, 2013 4:54am

So the "left" speaks for Tina now as well?  Since when does Buddhism promote coercion and theft?    I'm sure Tina wants to appreciate the fruits of her  labor as we all do.

Jan 28, 2013 5:00am

She speaks for herself as far as I know. I know YOU don't speak for her, lol.

Jan 28, 2013 5:18am

I only speak for myself.  Just making an observation that the "brain drain " from barry backlash has started.  Maybe not directly with Tina.  But, face it Trish, excessive royalty taxes are no reason to stay in this country.  Just as the rock stars left England in the 60's we will see more of this also.  Surely, Tina won't be returning to toss more green at the current regime.  Just curious , you seem rather disenchanted with the free market ; why do you stay? Perhaps the Greek isles?  France?  The world is your oyster.

Ditto. Why not Europe? You know, that place where Switzerland is.

Since when does Buddhism promote coercion and theft?

What you talking about, Willis?
