I started dating this guy I met on OKC a few months back. We spent a solid month hanging out, playing video games, smoking weed, and fucking pretty much incessantly every time we could get together. When we were apart, we were texting one another foolishness. We didn't give it labels, but we had made plans to spend a whole week together soon after the New Year.

For the three days before I was supposed to go over to his house, I texted him (once a day, not a billion times or anything), and got no reply. The practical part of my brain said he had found a girl at his New Year's party, and had been holed up with her. The part of my brain that had been through college said he might have asphyxiated on his own vomit like Heroin Bob.

On the day we were supposed to start hanging out, I went over to his place, saw his car in the parking lot, went to his apartment and knocked...and knocked...and knocked...his place isn't that big, and I did start freaking out a little. I got his manager to let me in and...yeah. He had a girl in his bed. Which would have been FINE if he had just fucking texted me and told me he had found an LTR in ANY of the three days leading up to that.

So, yeah...guys, just be a fucking human. I lost a really good friend (and a REALLY good lay) because he couldn't just man up and respond to a goddamned text.

What an immature, little monster.

Whatever happened to men being men and not just boys?

I'm sorry that happened to you.

Thank you for that. :-/ It was the first time I ever did that female thing of calling up my female friends and asking them to hang out with me to bitch about boys. It was...actually really, really fun.

But still, yeah. Backbone is important.

I hate that people do this to each other. How the fuck hard is it to say, "Hey, it's not going to work out?"

Well, there is a thread in which mr. Song whines about a girl who did just that for him, so...

Is no one else weirded out by OP just bustin' up into his apartment because he didn't text her back

I would have probably passed out from the awkwardness

Uh, no...I "busted in" because I knocked on his door for straight-up ten minutes (again, half-convinced he might have overdosed), and he didn't answer. And yes, it was palpably awkward. And I felt like a schmuck. But I've totally lost friends because no one checked on them for a couple weeks, and almost lost a baby cousin that way (his mom had OD'd, and he had survived by eating stuff he found on the floor).

He probably did not have any idea you would show up unexpectedly at his house.   Why should he?

My advice is, don't go over to someone's house unless you ask them (or warn them) you are coming, and get a confirmation back that indicates its okay to do so and they are aware you're coming.

In this case, its your bad, that you went over without any kind of confirmation.  His phone might of been off, he may have been sleeping, he might not even be home, etc.

When you show up unexpected, (unless you happen to live there) its generally a bad idea that can lead to all kinds of surprises.   Been there, done that, got the t-shirt myself.

Now, if you had the manager let you in, that is a way BIG BAD.  I know maybe you meant well, out of concern, but yeah...  not cool.  Imagine your in bed with your boyfriend sleeping, and some ex-bf gets his head in a dither about you not answering his texts, and asks the manager to open the door and let him in on you and blow away your privacy, just because your phone was in your purse in the living room where you couldn't hear it and didn't care to answer it.
