Compare the amount of press-time given to the fact that Demi Moore and Ashton Kucher had an age-gap relationship (15 year difference) with the amount of time given to the age gap between Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones (25 year difference); it seems to me there's a _lot_ more discussion about (and tacit disapproval of) the former than the latter.

By the public in general? I don't know.

Well I'll tell ya, Miss Nyamuk.

Miss Moist and I are in our 50s and have a wonderfully open relationship. We've been 'swingers' and have also dated separately. Our experience has shown (in general) that people can have a lot of issues with age and that women (by default) get more of a pass in this area (regarding the creepy pervert characterization) than men for reasons that should be pretty self evident.

References to Ashton Kucher and Hugh Heffer notwithstanding.

I think women are more likely to use the adjective "creepy" when what they mean is "not attracted to."

Feb 8, 2013 10:46am

I know it's a double standard, but I think it's hot when the woman is older, but creepy when the man is older.  It's just that I find gender role reversal and disregard for social norms a turn on. People who have  independence of mind are attractive. I also like the idea of more equality between the sexes.

The whole older man/younger woman thing is a reflection of the higher status of men in society. You can argue the whole biology thing, but social factors play a huge part. Men have more access to resources than women, and that makes women more dependent on men for resources. It's nice to see some of that being reversed.

^Hey, Babycakes, whatcha doin this weekend? *wink wink* Just kidding!

Anyhow, DGW, I seriously doubt you'd get that much flak for dating a 29 year old. I REALLY don't see anyone referring to you as 'one step away' from a pedophile for dating someone 20 years your junior.

Also, What9 brought up a good point about cougars not getting a free pass. Most of the youngins that have messaged me just want to fuck, and not be seen in public. They seem to think that I'm lusting for a stud, which always amuses me.

So true, Sandy. No one tries to give me grief about my age or for flirting with young women around here, ever.

In either case, with OKC women, my cut off age is usually around 35 (give or take) when contacting them.

In my day to day world it's around 25 (with exception of the rare deal breaker previously mentioned earlier in this thread).

There are people (usually women)

Woa! We’ve been called “people”! Choo-hoo!  :)

Feb 8, 2013 2:26pm

Well most of you are.

Feb 8, 2013 2:27pm

For me, if it feels gross, no matter how tempting it is, I won't do it.

He’s contacted me, he’s maintaining the dialogue, he’s suggested to meet previous Saturday. I said, I was busy. Without fuss he agreed to move the date to this Saturday. Maintained conversation during this week. Looks like he knows what he’s doing. Makes me feel less gross.

Feb 8, 2013 2:33pm

intelligent, polite, entertaining, attentive. Enthusiastic.

Sounds pretty ace to me, Miss Tuleful.

Nothing to feel gross about there at all!

Hope you two have great time!

Feb 8, 2013 2:35pm

Good Tulefel! Nothing wrong with a meet up, is there?

Feb 8, 2013 2:39pm

Most women on this site would consider this creepy, if you were a man.

Looks like being a man is a huge handicap. I'm glad that I'm a woman.

Feb 8, 2013 2:44pm

Some young dudes have a granny fetish. You probably aren't going to find too many though, so jump on it.

Well… from my lill’ experience it’s not exactly the case. Am approached by much younger men apprxmtly once a month. In real life too. Won’t call it epidemic, not yet, but some trend one can sense in it.

By the way, how do you get rid of dogs’ fur from fabric and soft furniture? If it’s not too personal a question.

Feb 8, 2013 4:19pm

You have to either drop these negative feelings toward the age difference, or embrace them, as soon as possible (and tell him "Sorry, no ..."), otherwise you are entering a relationship that is doomed by your own initial bias.

The only REALLY significant difference, other than some physical differences, is the sense of historical perspective. If the person can't begin to grasp events or attitudes that you recall clearly which they view as pre-history, it might cause friction. Like conflicting standards of music or film/tv.

But people have conflictiing values and memories even when they are the same age.

By the way, how do you get rid of dogs’ fur from fabric and soft furniture? If it’s not too personal a question.

There are sticky rollers that should collect fur, and also use a vacuum cleaner.

Nobody really says shit when Hef marries another 22 year old.

I did. I said "shit, fuck, piss, cock, cunt, suck, bitch, dick, asshole."

I have a lame version of Tourettes, but it gets me by.

Feb 8, 2013 7:12pm

Does Hef even marry them anymore? From what I've read, he has like half a dozen "girlfriends", who of course are completely interested in him as a person and not the generous allowance they get.

But anyway, that granny fetish line was from an episode of the Golden Girls where Blanche is in the same position, some young guy from her aerobics club (it was the 80s) wants to date her. And that's what Rose says when Blanche tells her.

Blanche: You know what I think, I think I can handle this relationship with Dirk. I'm gonna go out with him this Saturday night.

Dorothy Petrillo-Zbornak: Was there ever any doubt?

Blanche: Momentarily. This is strictly off the record but - Dirk's nearly five years younger than I am.

Dorothy Petrillo-Zbornak: In what Blanche, dog years?

You even sort of look like Rue McClannahan.

Feb 9, 2013 12:05am

Hugh Hefner is 86, married to a 26 year old now and expecting a baby, presumably from his sperm.

Feb 9, 2013 12:22am

You are so young… How’d you managed to accumulate so much poison?  :)

Nothing to feel gross about there at all!

Good Tulefel! Nothing wrong with a meet up, is there?

He invited me to a picnic. Said he will bring fruits and chocolate (on Venus altar?). I’ve volunteered to bring tea and muffins. Location:

If I don’t show up this evening, you know where to look for my body  :)

Feb 9, 2013 12:36am

wtf, that's in some foreign country! That webpage is in some weird foreign language! It's gotta be a SCAM!

And the name of the place starys with BAD . . . that should set off alarms in your head immediately.

DON'T go to this horrible "picnic". And DON'T send him money, no matter how tragic his "story" is, he's probably from Nigeria or the Ukraine, and you will never see that money again!

p.s. what a weird fucking language that was, I bet he made it up, no real language could be that weird looking.
