Is bypassing Congress by a barrage of Executive Orders an effective way of dismembering the Constitution?

Do you feel using children as props is an effective way of dismembering the 2nd Amendment?

I am not a gun owner , nor do I wish to be.  I do find it interesting that the government chooses to disarm the citizenry just as the biggest tax increase the country has ever seen rears it's ugly head.

Another school shooting ; this time a pissed off student.  No pell grant check.  What should go? The gun or the give away?

If folks like Trish are questioning  ; I'm asking the right questions.  Yanno, today, the Spanish government announced that hemp oil cures cancer.  "Hemp Oil Cures Cancer With No Side Effects"  .  Good article.  I'm wondering why our guvmint can not advise the citizenry of health benefits.  I'm wondering why the civil rights of cancer patients have been denied for oh what? At least 75 years.  Why has the guvmint lied to us ?  Same issue with gun control ; stay tuned while the current regime regulates and legislates us into the stone age ; and we pay them very well to do that.  Carry on , comrades.

Incidently, great article for wake and vape.  Good day.

I do find it interesting that the government chooses to disarm the citizenry just as the biggest tax increase the country has ever seen rears it's ugly head.

This is not OK. Using tax scares to decry gun control is more dastardly than using children to support gun control. Children died, people are hurt, people want justice. Some people want more justice than is appropriate so they attack guns as the root of the problem.

Ronald Reagan passed gun control because Hinkley tried to shoot him dead but mostly missed and crippled Reagan's Press Secretary, so Reagan would have looked really callous if he'd not signed the law.

The exaggerated tax increase has nothing to do with gun control. It's needed to pay for the guns of war that the President's predecessor forgot about doing. It's needed to balance the budget. It is not the largest tax increase in history; that honor may go to Reagan too.

Reagun, jr. , slick willy, barry.  Which one of the rogues was any better than the last?  Who knows?  Who cares?  I do know one thing , Cat, and I suspect you will agree ; Chicago very well might the murder capital of the US.  If not ; it's damn close.  Handguns are banned in Chicago.  Go figure.  Clear proof ; guvmint coercion does not work.  Observe the federal tax buffoonery, clear proof; guvmint coercion does not work.  Check please.   Snorkel for cancer research.

Just so yanno the Spanish gov't did not make a claim about a hemp oil study today.

They didn't make a claim about it in Oct of 2012 when this article appeared either.

What happened today is that you read about an article about hemp oil that included Spain in the title.

gosh it really doesn't matter, all guns are for assholes and should be banned.

hunt with a bow. if you're not willing to hunt with a bow, you don't like hunting - you like guns - and are equally worthless.

Jan 16, 2013 9:16am

^ How's that ban on drugs working out?

If you like trying to solve social problems via legislation, you're an asshole who doesn't like solutions--you like false ("on paper") solutions--and are equally worthless.

Writing up a law to ban all crime would be just about as effective... Oh, wait.

Equating gun control with dismantling the 2nd Amendment poses a bit of a premise problem, Mr. 59.

Jan 16, 2013 9:45am

As a scientist, I take a different approach: I say fuck the 2nd Amendment, and let's look at statistics instead.

  • The states with the highest degree of "gun control" have the MOST gun-related crime.
  • The states with the lowest degree of "gun control" have the the LEAST gun-related crime.

Making an argument for gun control from the usual emotional standpoint of "OMG! Guns are scary! Let's ban them and the world will be a better place!" doesn't fucking work and is demonstrably counterproductive. You may "feel" that you're improving the situation by pushing for the disarmament of law-abiding citizens, but reality indicates that there is a POSITIVE correlation between gun control and crime.

More gun control = more crime. It's a fact, and no amount of magical thinking can change that.

No, the states with the most murders or whatever are trying to pass laws about guns, that's why they have more laws. The problem is one city or state can't do it and have it work because some creepy person can just go over to the next city or state and get what they want. It's not magical at all :)

Jan 16, 2013 9:55am

fewer guns = less gun related crime. no guns equals no gun related crime.

if you have second amendment issues, i would accept allowing all citizens who join the national guard or military reserves to access registered firearms.

or even allowing private citizens to own registered firearms to be stored at an armory and allow them to be checked out for marksmanship training or distributed when needed for the national defense.

but "Responsible Gun Owners" like to mention that guns used in crimes are not purchased legally, they are primarily stolen.

if your gun is stolen and used in a crime, you should be found negligent - clearly you weren't sufficiently responsible.

Jan 16, 2013 10:11am

More gun control laws = more gun control crimes. So states with gun restrictions have more violations of those restrictions.

Same as:

More cops = more crime (unless we're paying them to sit on their asses and eat donuts they're out there creating technical violation crime to justify their jobs).

hunt with a bow.

People in favor or the TSA are constantly telling those against the TSA to walk or ride a bus like the proponents have an exclusive right to use current technology. "Get thee back to the stone age so that I can feel safe".

Fuck that. You go buy a castle and travel by buggy if you want to feel safe. I'm just as entitled to use current technology as you are.

Your rights end where mine begin. My rights end where yours begin.

I won't bring a gun into your house. You don't tell me not to protect myself from harm with a gun outside your home.

I'm still standing by the Chicago facts.  Home of the famous "community organizer"  is a literal blood bath all the while banning handguns.  UNBELIEVABLE.

Thank-you.  Phrewerks, explain that to the lovely and talented Trish.

What is so problematic about allowing a well armed citizenry?  Dr. weiner.

Cat.  Why should we care about the timing of a Press release?  The Spanish sure made damn fools out of liberal appointed drug czars.  Are you sure you can trust your handlers?

If Mr. pseup wants to bring a bow to a gun fight let him.

If Mr. pseup wants to bring a bow to a gun fight let him.

It only takes one shot to win!

Jan 16, 2013 11:06am

zero guns = zero gun crime.

cat: so long as all gun owners are ok with being found entirely culpable for any crime committed using a gun of which they've taken ownership, i'd say we're halfway there.

once we ditch the idea that gun manufacturers should not be held liable, we're getting closer.

but the moment i get shot with a gun stolen from you, your right to have a gun has infringed on my right to not be shot with a gun.

but the idea that a handgun is somehow intended for some use other than killing is ludicrous and disingenuous.  even "home defense," that noble sounding phrase, is just a locationally-specific term for "killing a human."

no guns means no gun problems.

Jan 16, 2013 12:59pm

OK. I'll see your stolen gun theory and raise you pissing in the lake.

You be responsible for your disease laden urine that get's flushed and recycled into the water supply and I'll be responsible for someone else shooting you. Or just substitute sneezes for pee.

Zero gun crime laws = zero gun crime. Just call murder murder whether it's done with a knitting needle or a Glock.

Chicago... is a literal blood bath all the while banning handguns.

Fact fail. Chicago has a murder rate of 15 per 100,000 down from 30 per 100,000 in the 90's.
