My self-summary
-musician and teacher
-cat dad
-thoroughly progressive, freethinking fish-out-of-water in the great but socially schizophrenic state of Texas.
-avid traveler. Last trip was to Orlando (ahem) Hogwarts and Diagon Alley.
-I am a bit of a car guy. This has been a thing since I was old enough to know what a car was and I don't see it changing any time soon. Definitely a guilty pleasure!
-I'm a very family oriented person. I visit with my immediate family at least once a week.

When it comes to dating, having a strong and unwavering friendship is something that I value more than just about anything else. Honesty is the highest form of intimacy.
What I’m doing with my life
Practicing, performing, writing, teaching, and generally digging the hell out of what I do. I play sax and write/arrange horn parts for a funk/soul band (original music). I'm also a private saxophone lesson instructor for several large school districts and am in the process of amassing my mega studio, muahahaha!! Life for me generally consists of early mornings, late nights, and copious amounts of driving. Much Red Bull is consumed. I have pursued my dream and am a better, happier person because of it.
I’m really good at
Answering a question with another question, guessing on quantities of ingredients when cooking, the lost and dying art of driving a manual.
The first things people usually notice about me
Eyes. Or the unintentionally serious look on my face.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Animal Farm, The Bad Place, Watchers, Robert Frost poems, Harry Potter (GoF), and God Is Not Great.

Lost in Translation, Forrest Gump, Good Will Hunting, The Shawshank Redemption, or anything by the Cohen Bros, Spielberg, Tarantino, or Aronofsky.

Cosmos, Breaking Bad, The Newsroom, Colbert Report, Trailer Park Boys, Narcos, Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, Top Gear.

Shostakovich's 5th Symphony played by Chicago is absolutely incredible and trumps anything else I could list here, but Sigur Ros and Death Cab are both near and dear to me. My musical tastes run the gamut of things not including bro country or screamy angsty teenager music. Hiatus Kaiyote has been rocking my world pretty hard lately.

Mahi-mahi, grilled and lightly seasoned, drizzled with freshly squeezed lemon and served over a bed of wild rice. Add a bottle of two-year-old Sauvignon blanc. Seriously though, I'll eat just about anything. No mayonnaise though! Nope nope nope CAN'T handle it.
The six things I could never do without
tonal harmony
positive vibes from friends and family
new discoveries
a sense of accomplishment
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Breaking the cosmic speed limit, a varied mix of cultural/philosophical/political narratives, groovy horn lines. My inner monologue is deafening sometimes.
On a typical Friday night I am
playing at a fine music venue near you, but I like to keep up with new movies that are showing on the occasional Friday night off. A game of Settlers of Catan and a good IPA is never off the table.
You should message me if
you know kung fu and/or would be willing to teach me the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique

deep down, you always wanted someone to dedicate and perform a tender and heartfelt jazz ballad a la John Coltrane circa 1963 to you, because that's something I can handle.

Of course, meeting up and solving all the world's problems together over a few drinks is always acceptable!
