My self-summary
That feeling where the thing you're doing right now is the only thought in your head -- yeah. The rest of life is just killing time in between.

For work I do big science and love it.

For fun it's social urban stuff (music, food, dancing), or physical outdoor stuff (climbing, skiing, surfing, biking). For real though -- not really interested in climbing gym dates.

I'm Really REALLY good at Saturdays.

GGG, switch (more top), creative and intelligent. There should be checkboxes for this. Oh wait there's a different site for that.

So much for profiles... we're all way too complex for a couple paragraphs to be that useful. A conversation is way more fun. Like the man said, "I am large, I contain multitudes." We all do.
What I’m doing with my life
Moved to SF a few years ago -- building a new life! Loving every minute of it.

Climbing a lot. Learning to surf.

Helping people to have healthy kids and avoid cancer.
I’m really good at
Finding the fun in things. Perceiving and describing the world. Understanding where people are coming from and where they're trying to get to. Making pragmatic choices. Pushing boundaries. Things that take balance, precision and sometimes speed, like skiing or climbing.
The first things people usually notice about me
Smile, unbridled optimism, nice butt.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Big giant pop-culture splat:

Music: Recently clicked into the burgeoning Garage Rock scene, so lately: Thee Oh Sees, Dirty Beaches, King Kahn, Parquet Courts, and tons of other stuff the internet throws at me.

Classic stuff: Bowie, Eno, Rufus, Iron and Wine, Nick Drake, Nick Cave, the Velvet Underground, Lou Reed, the Yardbirds, the Black Keys, Led Zeppelin, Gary Numan, Joy Division, Vampire Weekend, Simon & Garfunkel, !!!, Lady GaGa, the Mermen, the Ventures, Dick Dale, Robert Fripp, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Herbie Mann, Charlie Parker, getting into delta blues finally (Junior Kimbrough, RL Burnside), ... (http://www.last.fm/user/mr_choronzon for way too much detail)

Movies: There Will Be Blood, Blade Runner, Moon, Minority Report, 12 Angry Men, the Manchurian Candidate, Gilliam, Lynch, Kubrick, Hitchcock, 80's&90's action movies (you know you love 'em).

Books: Tom Wolfe (right stuff, kool-aid), Ken Kesey, William Gibson, Childhood's End, Lord of Light, Stranger in a Strange Land, embarrassing amounts of 1940's-1980's science fiction, Chuang Tzu, Lao Tzu

Food: Sea (every kind), Indian, Thai, Ethiopian, Spicy
The six things I could never do without
1. Fun
2. Something useful to do
3. Friends
4. Health
5. Adventure
6. Love, romance, chemistry
I spend a lot of time thinking about
City weekend or a country weekend?
What can be done to make things even better.
On a typical Friday night I am
Dinner party with friends in the city, drinks out on the town, home reading a book, or packing up the car and heading for the mountains or the sea.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm an anthropologist from outer space, and you'll (unknowingly) be the star of a reality show on my home planet. You'll be famous! (on Rigel seven). Sorry, no royalties though.
You should message me if
You're confident, self-reliant, challenging, creative, and fun.

You're comfortable with yourself, and your baseline state is happy.

You're an expert skier, good climber, or good surfer who's willing to put up with a kook in training. (say 'hi' even if you're not interested in a date -- I need more adventure friends!)

You prefer having a conversation to reading profiles.
