My self-summary
TL;DR: I'm a rad, caring, sincere, generally great guy who is interested in making connections with unique, intelligent people who are on a continual path of growth.

My intentions on OKC: I'm looking for people with whom I can snuggle and talk philosophy, geek on science while touching each others bodies, dissect culture and egos, or just toke up and share chips and hummus lying naked in the sun. I'm open to and interested in anything from finding singing/dancing/concert/science/weed/naturist buddies to primal, get-each-other-off sex pals to a long-term, raise-kids partnership, to whatever we decide we want to do together. I'm ethically non-monogamous and currently have two physical-intimacy friends and a variety of cuddle buddies. I'm comfortable with a range of relationship styles, and I always enjoy exploring intimacy with others.

Availability for meeting up: I'm currently very busy as I'm still learning how to balance my life as a freelancer. However, I'm heavily involved in the video game, VR/AR, and audio/music industry, so if you're into that, then we might fit into each others lifestyles a bit more cohesively. I'm certainly able to make time, but probably not much more than once a week or so for the time being. Also, if I take forever to respond, I sincerely apologize - time management is quite a growth edge.

Key stuff about me: I love hugs, I have a genuine heart and an active sense of wonder, I'm fairly self-aware and always working on becoming more so and improving myself. I have no gods nor masters. I live an incredibly resourceful lifestyle that's somewhere between extremely frugal and totally cheap. I love live music, festivals, and cons/expos of all kinds. I'm a musician, performer, dancer, and lover of life with a strong sense of compassion and love for myself and others.

I feel home when living near forests, mountains, and oceans. I'm interested in self-knowledge, divergent thinking, science, logic, philosophy, travel, history, psychology, and creating. I also enjoy living room dance parties, karaoke nights, Muppet movies, Mario Kart time trials, and Courtney Love-style nylon-tears interspersed with an abundance of wine, weed, pizza, and amazing people.
What I’m doing with my life
After very thriftily living off savings in SE Asia for a couple years, I moved back to the PNW where I now compose and design audio for video games and work as a session vocalist/guitarist. Here are some of my tunes: https://soundcloud.com/joshuaduchene
I’m really good at
Swerving when I see mud puddles so I can splash water with the force of eighty-five horses.
The first things people usually notice about me
Hopefully, my fantastic mane of curly hair, well-kept beard, and infectious smile. But probably my weird Asian-looking pants, jika-tabi shoes, and the scent of sandalwood.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Progressive rock, EDM, jazz, folk, djent, video game music, and anything with emotive melodies. Some favorites are Cloud Cult, Rishloo, Ella Fitzgerald, TesseracT, Joe Hisaishi, Jim Croce, Zedd, Mother Mother, A Perfect Circle, FTM, Koji Kondo, Tracy Chapman, Portishead, America, Chet Baker, Symphony of Science...

I enjoy both tabletop and video games. Mostly stuff like Settlers, 7 Wonders, etc. And for video games, I'm most fond of NES, SNES, N64, and other old-school games, but I've been taken in by many modern indie games, such as Bastion, Portal, Never Alone, Fossil Echo, and things you'd find featured in the PAX 10.

Pizza, red wine, Thai iced tea, masala chai, horchata, heavy microbrews, Mexican, Japanese, Thai, American, Indian, German, and occasionally, Taco Bell food-substitute.

M.C. Escher is my all-time fave. I also enjoy pop-art, surrealism, and other modern art. Some favorites include Dali, Gonsalves, Picasso, Van Gogh, Duchamp, Warhol, Haring, Mondrian, Pollock, Toulouse-Lautrec, & Rothko. Museum trips are an all-day activity for me.

Miyazaki, V for Vendetta, Eternal Sunshine..., Shawshank Redemption, What Dreams May Come, Kung Fury, Scott Pilgrim... I also dig any Muppet movie or legendary 80s/90s film, especially Labyrinth, The Goonies, The Sandlot, The Neverending Story, & The Princess Bride. And Rad... that movie is legitimately rad.

I mostly read non-fiction books and articles, specifically those about economics, philosophy, game audio, psychology, parenting, history, science, and self-knowledge. A few favorite authors include Carl Sagan, Richard Dawkins, Ray Bradbury, George Orwell, Thomas Woods, H.G. Wells, and Winifred Phillips.

Rick and Morty for 100 years..., Steven Universe, Firefly, Game of Thrones, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Cosmos, South Park, Pen & Teller: Bullshit, MythBusters, and anything about science, psychology, or economics.

School Sucks Podcast, The Game Audio Podcast, Freakonomics, Radiolab, The Tim Ferris Show, and the Why Do You Care?! Podcast.
Six things I could never do without
Touch, Creativity, Nature, Music, Dancing, and Sunshine.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Music. Everything is music. Every sound is a song. And they're all in my head, all at once.
How to be more rational, logical, compassionate, and self-aware. And what the price might be for a plane ticket to SE Asia or South America.
Also, the finite nature of life and how someday I'll completely cease to exist. That's always a weird one, but I'm learning to turn that fear into appreciation for the great fortune I have to be living right now... and as a human being! With a body! Bodies are amazing!
On a typical Friday night I am
Preferably: Performing or seeing a show, dancing, singing karaoke, dumpster diving, or maybe enjoying pizza, beer/weed with some co-op gaming, audio spirals, and/or Muppets from Space.
What usually happens: Finishing a bottle of wine while recording and editing a bunch of sounds that will later be put into a video game.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I was the kid in the 90s with the 'rat tail.'
You should message me if
You feel moved to do so, you want somebody to bring you a bottle of artisan wine and a body for snuggling, you want to discuss gene theory or economics while playing Mario Kart, you want some no-nonsense physical/sexual play with a completely open/honest person, or you just want to be completely yourself with somebody who's cool with that.

Most importantly, message me if you're rad, honest, rational, and you have stories to tell and ideas to share. I want to know you if you're on a continual path of growth and you give both yourself and others love and compassion, if you like being totally goofy/nerdy, or you like going to festivals, concerts, and cons, if you're a dumpster diver / thrift-shopper. Even if you already have a partner/spouse (ethical polyamory only) and/or kid(s) (kids are the shit). Also, I tend to prefer cute over hot. Being both is wicked awesome.

If you've come this far, send me a message and tell me something interesting about yourself. I once hiked 50 miles in a single day along an abandoned railway. Your turn - show me what you got!
