My self-summary
Preface: I should rewrite this at sometime. I get the creeps when I read some parts of this.

I'm a strong individualist, one of the quiet types who like to spend a lot of time engrossed in their own thoughts. I'm neither fun, nor outgoing or full of energy. In other words: I'm plain boring.
I am a very dilligent person, quite serious about my responsibilities and always helpful. As a result I tend to neglect the emotional side of my life and leave little time for my own interests. Although at times I try a more light hearted approach in everyday life through my distinctive sarcastic humour I am nonetheless often deeply depressed. In social matters I appear rather shy or even cold and aloof as I'm more like a lone wolf - an observer of society rather than an actual participant. I'm my own singular person - I depend on nobody and I'm being depended on by nobody.
What I’m doing with my life
Right now I'm putting my heart and soul into my job and I want to succeed as I'm continuing the family business. If my plans come to frutition, I can finally retire....... in just another thirty years - yay!
I’m really good at
I'm really good at planning things and solving problems by taking them on in a logical way, going step-by-step. I have a lot of general knowledge making me something like a living encyclopedia, because I enjoy aquiring and sharing all kinds of information.
Besides that............well, I'd say I'm not especially good at barely anything, instead I'm more like a jack of all trades as my job covers a great many of fields ranging from abstract chemistry over bookkeeping to repairing the brakes on a truck.
The first things people usually notice about me
The beard I guess, but besides that I don't have a clue. Probably the fact that my neutral facial expression looks to most people like a frown. Usually people like me better the longer they know me, because I often leave a rather bleak first impression..
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Currently reading: Stilwell and the American Experience in China by Barbara W. Tuchman

Last read: American Slave Coast: A History of the Slave-Breeding Industry by Ned Sublette

And the book before that: Private Empire: ExxonMobil and American Power by Steve Coll

On a general scale I'm interested in all things geeky like videogames, science-fiction and anime.

In the last few years I've reduced my hobbies down to basically two things: reading and video games.

Generally I'm reading everything that revolves around alternate history, dystopia, collapse of civilization, downfall of mankind or just plain general science-fiction. And by now I've read most of the great classics of that genre.

I also read a lot of non-fiction books, mostly things about world history, politics and military history which ist often enough the same.

Nonetheless videogames stay my most time-consuming hobby.
Six things I could never do without
- my personal freedom
- my computer and the 8 tb of data on the external harddrives
- my bankaccount
- a fair deal of peace and quietness around me
- good stories to think about

...oh well, that's only five things, then add something random like air or water ^^
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what I could do to improve myself or the things I do. I'm quite the perfectionist, so I'm always aspiring to be the king of the hill. Besides that I usually want to make the best possible decision right away, which sometimes makes me prone to crippling indecisiveness..

The ultimate question of life, the universe and everything.... - the answer is 42!!
On a typical Friday night I am
doing the same as every other night: sitting in front of my computer reading an e-book, playing videogames, watching a documentary / anime / movie and so on. I don't mind if friends invite me to go out together, but I can also live a happy life without attending any parties.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
If you want to hear a couple of pretty private things about me, just look over the many questions I wrote explanations for. This should give you a quite decent feeling of how I tick..

OK, OK, you want a little secret, so how about this: if I ever make enough spare money it is my dream to possess my own real-life tank. Yes, tank. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a Panzer III or IV (preferably the late versions with side skirts and spaced turret armor)
You should message me if
You did read my complete profile up to this point and did not get bored or freaked out....

Especially message me if you feel like talking about videogames, anime, science-fiction of any kind, world politics and military history. - I can talk about these for ages. ^_^

And for the end a well-meant word of advice for you:
If you really want to get my attention - message me, because I will be in almost any case too shy or just oblivious to message you.
