I keep my life interesting. By training I'm a marine biologist, though at the moment I'm focusing on my art before I start a Ph.D. next year. Previously I was a master's student in France and a fisheries observer in Alaska.
I always have at least one project going, usually more. A definite favorite was my aquarium in France (see pictures in the More Photos section). Currently, I'm reorganizing my studio apartment to maximize space and functionality, and I'm trying to grow a little jungle with tropical vines. I'm also designing a new aquarium for some unspecified time in the future. (I'm not an aquarium jock, by the way. I actually care for my charges and am not just looking for some flashy trophy to show off.)
Acting ethically is important to me. I do my best to stay aware of the consequences of my actions and minimize my negative impacts on the world. I feel conflicted about things like animal products and keeping fish in aquariums. I think that life is all about balancing joys and impacts. Luckily, spending time with people I feel close to is free :)
I'm a feminist and LGBT supporter. If you aren't, we won't get along.
Independent and creative, I have little concern for being "normal". That person carrying a fig tree on the bus--yeah, that's me.
Also, if you own a fireplace, I can build you the perfect fire. It's kinda dreamy :)

Also, what it means to be happy, what "quality" really is, how to preserve wilderness in a world full of humans.
Also, if you have a favorite tree and want to show it to me. (Mine is a London Plane on 12th Ave NE just above 41st Street)
