My self-summary
New York is my base but I am spending a lot of time in Paris these days working on a big project. I am open to figuring out how to create a rewarding relationship that spans the distance.

Next time in Paris will be in March and then most of the summer 2016.

Briefly, I've been alone too long and would love to change that. I am a good guy with an interesting life I want to share. I'm an artist, designer, photographer and educator. It would be great to meet a smart, funny, handsome, kind and sexy man who is also a reasonable, reliable adult (that's not about age in years.) Looking for a man who is working hard to be the real deal. If he has made mistakes and learned from them, even better. Art, photography, design and a sense of social responsibility and justice are big parts of my life. No drugs or alcohol. I am very oral; it all starts, keeps going and ends with kissing.

More detail:

Me? Somewhat unusual, talented, intense, silly, charming, gracious, infuriating, tactless, diplomatic. I can be gregarious, shy, generous, introspective, impatient, willful. Definitely a top, I'm HIV- and on PrEP. I have seen trouble and created my own. I don't drink, have done that enough for a couple of lifetimes. I'm glad to be alive and am grateful for second chances. I can also be extremely funny and perverse. I have old friends I love but I need to be surprised by someone new. I have traveled a good deal and look forward to more. I ended a long-term relationship a while ago and want to practice what I have learned about love to date. I have an interesting and unpredictable professional life that has included art, design, journalism, government, academia, and my own business. I work very hard, become engrossed in ideas, have a flexible mind and love solving problems. I appreciate beauty, popular culture, the performing arts, and technology and what they reflect about our lives. I like to entertain and cook. I value difference, openness, honesty, curiosity, kindness, compassion, courage, a great sense of humor and a greater kisser.

You? Masculine, out, experienced in long term relationships, successful, talented and creative, sensitive sensual and independent. If you are in the process of becoming something new; if you are independent but available for love; if you work hard and seek challenge; if you have a wild and dark sense of humor; if you are an engaged bottom who loves to be kissed, held, touched: if you enjoy giving and are able to receive; if you are a good listener; if you are articulate and understand the art of disagreement; if you are committed to finding some truth in your life and its contradictions; if you are fascinated by the details, if you want to understand the complexity of the big picture; if you are fascinated by popular culture and the new; if the arts are near the center of your life; if you enjoy fashion; if you are creative, intelligent, curious about the world; if you are still shy despite your successes; if you have seen and made your own troubles; if you are handsome, affectionate, sexy; if you go to the gym but it does not rule your life or your thoughts about others; love to kiss; if you are all or some of these and attracted to me, I am likely to be drawn to you.

Dealbreakers: Pictures of you in many groups of people who are just like you; pictures of you with cats (I am very allergic); 50+% of your pictures are with women on what would appear to be "dates" if I didn't know better and you don't indicate that you are new to sex with men; all of your pictures include cocktails; more than 20% of your pictures lack clothing; pictures with dirty, messy interiors in the background; pictures that feature many gyms or bars in the background; other evidence of active addictions....
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to figure out the next phase of my life. Looking for someone to share that time. I have been an instructor, administrator, member of the leadership of a university for more than 20 years but am now focused on projects outside the ivory tower that use the arts to explore queer lives. If you want to know more you could check my website to start to see what I've done, and my blog to see what's I'm up to or thinking about. I will tell you how to do that when we know more about one another. I also live with Sherlock, my sweet four legged buddy who keeps me in line.
I’m really good at
Coming up with new concepts, helping others recognize their potential and the value of their ideas, cooking without recipes, making connections, losing things.
The first things people usually notice about me
My celestial aura, the sudden presence of Nino Rota soundtrack, clouds of mist and my entourage.

Six things I could never do without
Never?...Art, my friends (including some members of my family,) laughter, the promise of love, thoughtfulness and curiosity.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
art, sex, the puzzling/troubling state of the world, what I can do about it, work I am involved in, things I want to do, coming up with new food ideas.
On a typical Friday night I am
Either making dinner for friends, catching my breath, planning ahead, meeting friends....
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I spend a lot of time on my own and I am not always very good at that.
You should message me if
You are at a point where having someone new in your life might be a good thing and you are still willing to explore attraction, potential love and affection and with another person, not just in your head; if you are interested in the person you see and what has been written here; if you are kind, funny, have some mileage and appreciate that; if you are progressive, out, socially aware and break stereotypical molds (see above)
