This is a difficult thing. Do we ever really see ourselves as others do? (and can we actually fit a whole person in these little boxes?)
I bought an old house a few years ago and now I spend my free time getting it to match the picture in my head. I have insulated the basement and attic, painted the kitchen, rewired, fixed leaky pipes. . . and I put the finishing touches on the new roof this fall! (much better) The joys of an old house!
I am looking forward to insulating the "sleeping" porch as part of its' eventual transformation to my bedroom (it'll need to have heat first. . .). I can picture a wood burner and a comfy chair in one corner - a cup of tea and a good book (nirvana). I may drag the bed out there for the summer. . .
I just completed a major project to help keep the basement dry. This involved a jackhammer, sump pits, two large pumps, some plumbing and wiring. I was happily vindicated today when not a drop made it past my French drain. . .
It is the weekend before the 4th of July, so I'm on my way out the door to buy a truly outrageous amount of explosives with my brother - we put on a hell of a show. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that I was on some kind of watch list. . .
I'm restoring and updating a 90 year old pipe organ. Currently I have 3 ranks, glockenspiel, chimes, and some percussion working. There are 5 more of ranks pipes to be restored - it's a long-haul kind of project. . . This morning's concert included "Delilah" by Tom Jones.
I just bought a 37 note xylophone for my pipe organ. eBay is a foul temptress. . .
As for music, I've been listening to this on repeat nearly all day: https://youtu.be/PMrXkEmlkX4
There is a great build-up to the moment at about 1:25 in, that may just be a perfect musical moment. I think this is the same reason I love Bach - his music builds toward a cathartic resolution.
Or am I just supposed to list pop-stuff here?
Lately I have developed strong opinions on natural vs. synthetic materials as used in the construction of pipe organs.
I am Facebook friends with Swedish two time Olympic gold medal curler Anette Norberg.
Also, I judge people based on their photo captions.
"This is a picture of me" + "This is a picture of my dog" =
"This is a picture of me and my dog"
Why is this so hard for some folks? "My dog and I" makes me think they somehow managed to skip English class for 12 years. . .
I was kind of disappointed at the voting booth this morning to realize that I don't have anyone I want to vote for, but there were several people I wanted to vote against. . .
