My self-summary
Like a pop-tart with no frosting, I come across as rather wholesome, until you bite down into the tasty rainbow center.

When I grow up, I want to be a travel writer for Lonely Planet. Or a food truck chef. Or an entrepreneur. Or something else - it's a work in progress, this growing up business.

INFP/J. Sagittarius. Feminist. Bleeding heart liberal. Heteroflexible. Sex/body positive. Inquisitive explorer. Aspiring small business owner. Permaculture farmer. Budding rock climber with a fear of heights.

Elizabeth Warren's election to congress is my proudest electoral moment to date.

Learning how to make the perfect chocolate chip muffins from the Moosewood cookbook is my proudest muffin moment to date.
What I’m doing with my life
Reading an inordinate amount of news and non-fiction.
Cooking and eating inordinate amounts of veggie food.
Riding an inordinate amount of bikes.... wait a minute...

Planning daring parties with extravagant themes, snuggling with my amazing cat Agent Cooper, or gardening with my partner, pasigraphy.

Have lately gotten really into eating super healthy. Time will tell if it's just a fad but I'm totally digging sprouting all the seeds and legumes I can. Can't stop, won't stop.

Yoga, rock climbing, riding my bike

I'm pretty even-keeled. But I dream about fantastic new ways to apply myself every 15 seconds.
I’m really good at
Putting the toilet seat back down after use and washing the dishes (I've been well-trained).

Snuggling, either big spoon or small spoon (not bad for a 6'1" dude).

Cooking tasty vegetarian meals and making beer (I also make a mean Vieux Carre).

Not hitting a single correct note when I sing along to the radio, or sing along to anything for that matter. Seriously, it's a train wreck.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I look like a normative bro.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Honestly, I either listen to NPR or house music in the car. Everything is cooler with a good house beat or Audie Cornish in the background. Even driving.

Books - The River Why, Watership Down, Venus in Fur, My Story as Told by Water, Dune, anything by Dave Eggers, On The Road, Small is Beautiful, A People's History..., Things Fall Apart, The Motorcycle Diaries, What is the What, Mountains Beyond Mountains, Middlesex, East of Eden, Into the Wild, Homage to Catalonia, Das Kapital, Revolutionary Road, Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight, Clockwork Orange, The Fate of Africa, King Leopold's Ghost, The Nine

NYTimes, The Economist, Jezebel, Mother Jones, NPR, New Republic, Foreign Policy, The Atlantic, Daily Kos, Savage Love, The New Yorker, the Daily Show (yes, I get my news from Jon), Democracy Now

Movies - Amelie, City of God, Seven, A River Runs Through It, Sandlot, The Rainmaker, Hotel Rwanda, Shawshank Redemption, Full Metal Jacket, The Motorcycle Diaries, The Goonies, Clockwork Orange, Velvet Goldmine

I think Dave Brubeck's "Take Five" is the sexiest song ever.

Food - I eat mostly vegetarian and often times vegan but sushi is one of my guilty pleasures that I may never be able to give up.

Can we list favorite websites? My favorite is kiva.org. So many projects, so many good returns. The micro-lending site that keeps on giving.
The six things I could never do without
All you need is love.
(And maybe some coffee, and a backgammon set).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Travel. Culture. Peak oil. School. Learning computer geek talk. My future. My next tattoo. What I want to eat for lunch tomorrow. Buying land. Buying a plane ticket. How I should go to yoga. New adventures. Oligarchy and the proletariat. Whether my cat is going to ambush me. Starting a microbrewery or brewpub.

Why is it so damn hard to find a good travel mug that doesn't leak!!! I'm incensed!
On a typical Friday night I am
Friday nights are tough right now, I'm usually in the car driving back to Boston.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Recovering Southern Baptist kid. (My take away from those years was that Jesus was a progressive hippie who preached redistribution and turning the other cheek. Word).
