My self-summary
I'm originally from Bflo, lived in DC for a few years working at an environmental nonprofit, and moved to Atlanta to pursue a Master's degree in City & Regional Planning here at Georgia Tech. I decided to stick around because my niece (the reason I chose Tech for grad school) is just too darn cute to leave behind. I hope to head out to the West coast in a few years.

I'm friendly, cheerful and easy to get along with. I love to laugh, listen to live music, dance (swing, contra, cajun), and do other fun things in the city that don't require the use of a car. I play guitar (badly) and I would like to say that I could also badly play the banjo but, at this point in my life, all I can claim is to own one.

I selected "Agnosticism" as my religion, but Buddhism also plays a role in my life. I don't consider myself a religious or spiritual person, but I find Buddhism to be beautiful, fascinating, and extremely helpful for mental/emotional health.
What I’m doing with my life
fighting the good fight!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
i love music, food and reading! movies --- i can take 'em or leave 'em.

Music -- I listen to lots of different kinds of music, and I listen to it all the time. Bluegrass, classical, folk, bossa nova, indie, classic rock, jazz, afrobeat.... Camera Obscura, Grateful Dead, Ani DiFranco, Ben Sollee, CCR, The Devil Makes Three, Frank Turner, rilo kiley, the weepies, sarah harmer, regina spektor, decemberists, poe, patty griffin, neko case, alison krauss (wow apparently i'm really into the ladies), david grisman, babik, carla bruni.... ok i'll just stop there.

Food --- I LOVE food. Blueberries, pork chops, pears, brussels sprouts, goat cheese, roasted vegetables... I try to eat simply and healthfully.

Books -- I graduated from grad school last year and I finally have time to read again! Notable recent reads include: Me Talk Pretty One Day, The Fountainhead, Angle of Repose, Pride Prejudice and Zombies, some books on Buddhism, and The Hunger Games. I've got a long list "To Read" list that I'm looking forward to cutting through.

Movies -- I mainly stick to comedies because I love to laugh. I've got a soft spot for zombies.

Other hobbies include: playing with my niece, sewing, people-watching, watching dogs in the dogpark, poorly playing my guitar, hiking, camping, going to festivals.
Six things I could never do without
communing with others

apparently i'm pretty low-maintenance, because i can only think of 4.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
human behavior --- why people do the things they do, the motivation behind it, and how they might understand that motivation. personality types (i'm an ESFJ). mental health. what tracks to add to my playlist. buddhism. existentialism. urbanism. what's for dinner-ism.
On a typical Friday night I am
contra dancing. or, not. depends on what kind of week i had.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am disturbingly fond of Pillsbury biscuits, the kind of that come in the can. And I like them raw. There. I said it. Go ahead and judge.
You should message me if
You've devoted some serious time to cultivating self-awareness. Your hobbies include: exploring new music, food and cultural offerings; hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities; going to festivals; eating yummy food (yes, as a hobby, not something that you just do occasionally). You can help me unleash the banjo rockstar within. Bonus points if you: practice Buddhism/know something about it; play music; contra and/or swing dance. Mega triple word score bonus points if you waltz!
