My self-summary
Engineer. Teacher. Traveler.

Grew up in the Midwest, but have since lived in a few other states and abroad. I left my job in biotech to teach hs math for four years, but now I'm back. Just moved back to Austin too and so excited to rediscover my favorite old haunts as well as check out some of the new ones. Can't believe how it has changed!
What I’m doing with my life
Exploring the world and ready to share the adventures with someone. I enjoy my work but try to set some boundaries on weekends and evenings because it's so easy to get caught up in it!

Scouring the world looking for my future B&B. Spending time outside of work enjoying numerous hobbies including baking, sewing, biking, and skiing. Each Christmas I challenge myself to bake more cookies than the last, but my family has taken issue with it due to increasing waistlines :(
I’m really good at
Reading maps and finding my way around new places! Experiencing new things, unless it involves extreme heights! Molding minds, young and old :) Keeping a very close eye on my sweet puppy, who has an unfortunate tendency to swallow foreign objects, like needles, though she has become a great little travel buddy.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books- To Kill a Mockingbird, Pillars of the Earth, all of Nicholas Sparks' fairly mindless, romantic indulgences

Movies- Newsies, Across the Universe, Life as a House

Music- Vampire Weekend, The Courteneers, Ben Folds, The National, I'm pretty open to most genres really
The six things I could never do without
- cheap airline tickets
- Rick Steves' self-guided walking tours (I wish he'd expand out of Europe!)
- Saturday softball games/ski adventures
- a well packed carry-on (no penalties from EasyJet here!
- weekend visits to see family and friends
- my KitchenAid mixer
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My new house! I love to decorate a new space, and have gotten pretty good at it over the years. So Pinterest has been a big win for ideas, and have been spending time wandering the aisles of Home Depot and Lowes.
On a typical Friday night I am
Finding a low key spot for happy hour after work.
You should message me if
You'd like to be the second person in my 2-man furniture building projects, enjoy eating baked goods, and enjoy a week or weekend away!
