My self-summary
I am creative, delightfully zany and do not take myself too seriously. I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon then got a wild hair and decided to got to college on a Marine Corps ROTC scholarship to South Carolina. Since then I have lived in Washington DC, Charleston SC and San Clemente (Orange County) CA. I have settled in the Bay Area and have enjoyed living here the most - save for the cold water surfing...

I enjoy being active and adventurous, but I also appreciate quiet and calm. I regularly weight lift, run, swim and practice yoga. I love all kinds of music and play several instruments, including classical/flamenco guitar, mandolin and the banjo. I am a goal oriented and self-driven person. I have many things in my life that I would like to accomplish and I like to set the bar high.

And be forewarned: I have a strong geeky side - which includes an affinity for Lord of the Rings (the books!), Star Wars and all kinds of animation.
What I’m doing with my life
I work in project management and sales for a mechanical engineering company. I exist in a world of business casual, hardhats, executive suites, slip-on loafers and steel toed boots. My job requires me to interact with an eclectic mix of people, which has enabled me to swear like a sailor on a construction site and give a polished presentation in a suit and tie.

I am looking to pursue graduate studies in the near future. Also, I am working on founding a local non-profit and nurturing a few entrepreneurial ideas. Ultimately, I want to do something that will enable me to travel frequently and help make the world a better place.
I’m really good at
music, arguments, having a strange fact or story to share.
The first things people usually notice about me
My hobbies, world views and ambitions that seem to conflict with one another... they do and they don't.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I like reading autobiographies and any stories written in someone's own words. My current favorites are Bound For Glory by Woody Guthrie and the 7 Pillars of Wisdom by T.E. Lawrence. I also enjoy reading the news analysis in The Economist, Newsweek the NY Times, Reuters and NPR. I like animated films, mostly Pixar and everything by Hayao Miyazaki, also old spaghetti westerns, film noir and the classics.
Six things I could never do without
My sight, my hearing, my taste, my feeling, my friends, my guitar.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How I can change the world, the nature of thought, compassion, spirituality and religion.

...also which old school R&B songs I can cover on the guitar.
On a typical Friday night I am
Looking for something new to try
You should message me if
You'd like to know more about me.
