My self-summary
It starts with a double-knot at the laces... Then it's one step in front of the other until before you know it you're training for a 5k race... and it just doesn't seem like that big of a deal... But knowing ancient steam trains used to plow through the snow and ice down Monon Trail where I run makes it feel like I have something in common with those machines. Still, when I'm not in training mode, the simple act of breathing fresh air in the midst of gorgeous scenery makes me feel at home...

I grew up a pretty normal kid in Chicago, except for having parents who tried to make me 'international.' I'm not sure it worked. I still prefer nachos and pineapple pizza to crepes and lobster thermidor. But once or twice a year they'd take us somewhere new and impart their love of being a tourist upon us.
What I’m doing with my life
I've done a good job of keeping my family's travel ritual alive, but these days I'm more apt to travel with close friends. Time with my favorite people is top on my list of activities. They're more like family anyway (and we even do a 'friends Thanksgiving' every November). Even when work has me stressed out, one well-timed joke from them and I'll be laughing my @$$ off for the rest of the night.

For work I help businesses run more efficiently... basically it involves streamlining a process that normally takes an expert 2 or 3 days of analysis, and turning it into something a monkey could do in 5 minutes (I'm not the monkey, I swear)...

But balance is key – i.e., clinking frosty mugs at happy hour or just relaxing to while watching a movie or a couple episodes of Lost, 24 or Burn Notice... Add a Sunday morning jog into the mix (followed by a very giant breakfast) and I'm happy indeed.
I’m really good at
Hitting the gym or running 4x a week… I got into the habit a couple years ago and it quickly went from being a chore to being one of my favorite parts of the day…

And carrying heavy stuff, pulling out chairs and opening car doors ;)
The first things people usually notice about me
I would have said that I’m a ‘pirate’ but ever since I got rid of the eye patch, shaved off the dread locks and my talking parrot flew away, it hasn’t come up…
Six things I could never do without
My parents, my sister and my niece aren’t ‘things’ but they’re definitely my favorite people. My sister’s in Chi-Town but I visit every few weekends. Friends come next. And a very close 3rd would be any pro sports team from Chicago. Downing another shot of sake while pretending I didn’t just put waaaay too much wasabi on my California roll. Running & the gym.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Where I’m going to take my next trip… Mexico, Paris, Sweden… a tiny little island in the Caribbean where we can drink something tasty and fall asleep to the sounds of seagulls and crashing waves perhaps?
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends eating at a great restaurant, or relaxing my way into the weekend after a workout…
You should message me if
If you like to be as active as I do… You’ve got a wicked-fast sense of humor to match my own (when we’re together we’re always playing off each other’s jokes). You like movies at the theater or curled up under a blanket at home. You’re curious about the world, and you’d totally be down for a last-minute road trip or catching a random flight somewhere overseas…

Think we might be a match? Send me a message and let’s chat…
