My self-summary
Stuck inside the beltway doing DC things, but live for alpine skiing...unassuming après addict so watch out!

*Don't take my username seriously, I certainly don't.
What I’m doing with my life
Daily I run policy for a trade association advocating for better data management in the federal government. Bottom line: just stop with all the stupid paperwork!

I am also a volunteer non-profit board member managing a local chapter of an international professional services association. We raise a lot of money for STEM oriented charities and it keeps me busy with lots of fun happy hours and events!

But the real fun is in the winter working as a part-time ski racing coach up at Whitetail PA. Outlook for now is to work in the DC policy world for a few more years and then start exploring grad school options, but you never know.
I’m really good at
Working with people, managing groups, developing trust, figuring things out! I'm just generally thrifty and like tackling challenges big or small. Sports wise you will not be able to handle a canoe better than me, I'm good enough at tennis that you will have fun practicing off me (I'll lose, but it will be honorable), I have an arm for baseball/softball, and I know my way around backpacking trips. My real skill though is in technical alpine skiing. That's where I truly feel like an expert.
The first things people usually notice about me
I've been told that I have a "disarming" personality...and have lately been spurring a lot of positive chatter about my beard.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love lists.

Screwtape Letters, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Killer Angels, In Cold Blood, Crime and Punishment, Mediated, Amusing Ourselves to Death, What Do Pictures Want

Dr. Strangeglove, The Layer Cake, Untouchables, Apollo 13, Catch Me If You Can, Rushmore, The Fugitive, Rain Man, Burn After Reading, American Psycho, The Firm, The Departed, Watchmen

Community, South Park, The League, Always Sunny, Arrested Development, Frasier, The Wire, Entourage, True Detective, Better Call Saul, The Knick, House of Cards

Chili Peppers, Radiohead, Beck, Wilco, Decemberists, Band of Horses, OK Go, DMB, White Stripes, The Kills, Dandy Warhols, Modest Mouse, Spoon, Death Cab, Fever Ray, Barenaked Ladies, Manchester Orchestra, Portugal The Man

Seafood (!) (all types...blue crab, lobster, crawfish, etc), Chinese, Thai, Sushi, Mexican (lots of cheese!), German, Italian, most everything else
The six things I could never do without
- snow drenched mountains - family - my complete collection of West Wing - an all wheel drive vehicle - US citizenship - a glass of whiskey
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Dinner strategies, professional networking, winter, how much I hate dry cleaning, what I'm going to do tomorrow
On a typical Friday night I am
Taking advantage of DC events, pouring a jack and coke for a double feature movie night, or loading up the suv to head somewhere fun.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't know how to mix my own Bloody Mary.
You should message me if
You liked anything you just read. If you consider yourself a fun, professional adult and want to have an easy conversation over happy hour or coffee.
