My self-summary
Basically I pass progressive laws and my spirit animal is Joe Biden.

The full scoop: I'm a social animal with an intellectual bent (a natural byproduct of my Wisconsin heritage and upbringing by a socially-minded professor). I love making people laugh and think at the same time, and enjoy that quality in others as well. I'm always aspiring to grow, do more, and take on bigger challenges in all aspects of life (learning rock climbing, blues singing, and surfing this year). I'm father to a dog-child, uncle to a few adorable kids, and in the future hope to be partner to someone best described as amazeballs. My day-to-day usually features watching my nephews grow up, being all sorts of body and brain active, and losing myself in a city's indie/soul dance/karaoke scenes.

Seattle is home base for now, but planning my great escape to browner (but more exciting) pastures. I travel a lot to Portland, Chicago, and D.C., and may find myself living in one of them soon.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm trying to create a new state-based insurance system, helping out on income inequality where I can, and I'm also on the board of a scholarship fund. My life consists of a lot of zipping around and chatting with people about how to make this place a bit more perfect via our very imperfect systems of governance. Creating change for the public good has always been my passion (aside from soccer and rock and roll) and I love what I do.
I’m really good at
aansArgm.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Book: Non-fiction. I read a lot of DKG (that's Doris Kearns-Goodwin for all you fiction-philes).

Movie: Dig! or Exit Through the Gift Shop

TV: Arrested Development, It's Always Sunny, The Wire, and PBS.

Music: I listen to good music. Trust.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The future, self-improvement, the great civic calamities of our time. When to get that next tattoo.

Also, my dog.
On a typical Friday night I am
Probably hanging with my nephews and then falling asleep at a pitiful hour. If adventure strikes, then I'm at a show, dancing to old music or throwing down some intense renditions of 90's one hit wonders at karaoke.
You should message me if
I'm open to meeting up with the kind, the open-minded, the ambitious, and the quirky - banality is my personal version of hell.
