My self-summary
I Just got my masters degree and now trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.

I'm a big science fiction and zombie cinema guy.
Cloudy light and rainy days bum me out more than the average person.
I can be a bit of an introvert at times.
I hate being the one to make decisions in a group.
I read a lot. I manage to balance being a scholar and being a goofus in semi-passable ways (I hope anyway)
I would sell my soul to have Anthony Bourdain's job.
I'm a night owl; mornings see me at my crankiest and if there's no coffee forget about it.

My sarcasm is never ending but generally good natured. Generally.

I'm a New York native except that I didn't go to high school here. I'm lucky enough to have had most of my best friends from college move here after I did.

Self description is hard you guys. Feel free to ask after anything I didn't list.
What I’m doing with my life
Catching up on my sleep, reading fiction for the first time in too long and loving it, applying to big boy jobs. You know, just living the dream...

When not doing the above, I'm usually hanging out with friends, playing Settlers of Catan, or out at a bar.
I’m really good at
Fancy book learning.
Making monsters out of clay
Speaking moderately coherent Arabic.
Infecting the lexicon of the people around me with my catchphrases.
Making a damn good bean salad
Making lists, usually of things with no practical application or use.
Sleeping on any kind of transportation except planes for some reason.
The first things people usually notice about me
My tattoos. And yes I know how incredibly hip that makes me sound, but for better or worse its true
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Blood Meridian, The Stand, The Zombie Survival Guide, The Shadow of the Wind, Ficciones, The Dark Tower Series, The Plague, Watership Down, White Noise, Game of Thrones, Perdido Street Station, The Mars Trilogy, The Dispossessed, Gun with Occasional Music. I also read a ton of non fiction/social science books and journals.

Movies: Children of Men, Wet Hot American Summer, Pan's Labyrinth, Total Recall, Dawn of the Dead, Tombstone, Mystery Team, The Usual Suspects, Pretty much any zombie movie ever made; they have to be REALLY bad for me to not like them.

Shows: Parks and Recreation, Bored to Death, Battlestar Galactica, Arrested Development, Walking Dead, No Reservations, Bizarre Food, House Hunters International, Game of Thrones. I'm continually embarrassed to admit that I've never seen the Wire or Breaking Bad, even though I've planned on getting into them since forever

Music: Propagandhi, Refused, Johnny Cash, Dinosaur Jr., MF Doom, Fugazi, Pelican, Oingo Boingo, etc.

Food: Pretty much anything; I enjoy finding and trying new things. Having said that, I don't think i could ever eat balut. I hate collard greens.
The six things I could never do without
A backpack of some sort
Hot Showers (I actually have gone without these but I just really like them)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Politics. Beers. The future. The Middle East. Friends. Comic Books. Survivalism. Science Fiction. Postcolonialism. Whether I own too many plaid shirts. The inherent contradiction of loving zombie cinema but being nauseated by real blood or even the mention of veins. Habitus. Agriculture. How to found a Calvinball league. Structural violence. How to open a brewpub with attached library without getting the books all sticky. Opening a coffin hotel on a college campus and becoming a millionaire. Being a space colonist/explorer. Are my features too deep set to be considered classically handsome? Cities.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends, probably at a bar or someone's house. I prefer low key places with a good beer selection so those are the kinds of bars I tend to frequent. I hate having to scream to be heard when I go out and/or be jostled for 30 minutes while waiting to get to a drink, so I avoid places like that at all costs.

I also have no problem reading or watching a movie or having a couple drinks at home. I don't feel obligated to go out on weekends just because I can.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I can barely ride a bicycle and have only done so maybe 6 times in my entire life.
You should message me if
You wanna talk about mutual interests over drinks or coffee

You're not in a cult or an organ harvester.

You're looking for hand holding kinda relationships. One night stands etc. are cool I guess, but not really what I'm looking for.
