My self-summary
Hi, I'm Adam! I can be a bit shy, but I open up pretty fast to the right people (I'm pretty easy going, so chances are you're the right people). I amuse myself by being clever and I've been told I can be a bit of a smart-ass sometimes, but I'm never mean-spirited unless I've just really chosen my words poorly. If that didn't sound pretentious (like everybody else on here, I'm not too into writing about myself...resumés specifically are tough), then send me a message!

I grew up abroad and moved from country to country every few years. I've attended schools in a few different places until finally graduating high school in Thailand. After that I moved back to California for college, then Washington because people are nicer up here and it rains n'stuff.

I went through a few majors while I was in college, but I was indecisive about what I really wanted to do (journalism, writing, computer science), so I left and decided I'd go back once I absolutely knew what major to pursue and didn't feel so jaded about the education system.

I know that I get the most joy out of life by being creative and being with others, and I can safely admit that anxiety and self-criticism have kept me from being as social as I would like to be. I'm getting much better, though!

I've been told I'm fun, easy to talk to, and a good listener. I love rain and thunderstorms, and look forward to sitting next to a fireplace listening to jazz while reading a book during either of them when I'm an old man. Honestly, I'll probably be reading dumb stuff online instead when that actually happens, but the dream looks better without the laptop. In that dream I also have all my hair (so far so good!).
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently working remotely in a sort of tech support/customer service position at a software startup in Southern California. I worked there before my move up here and my boss is a close friend who I really respect, so I'm going to help him all I can from 1200~ miles away.

I occasionally write story/movie/video game outlines and I'd really like to try out voice acting but I don't really know where to begin. For now it's just singing in my car and streaming Street Fighter V.
I’m really good at
I make this Vindaloo Curry Meatloaf that's pretty great.

I've been told I'm a good listener and give really good objective advice. I enjoy listening and helping people out,'s definitely the reason I tried my hand at psychology in school, and I've been told I could be a good therapist by many people.

I have a decent singing voice, though I only really use it in the car. I can't tell if I'd rather have a really clear voice like a swing/rat pack/crooner type of vocalist or if I'd like to be able to growl like the more heavy rock/metal stuff I listen to, so for now it's being okay at both.
The first things people usually notice about me
Depending on the day, my beard or hair? I've been told I have a nice smile, so maybe that? I've also been told I have dynamic eyebrows, though I still don't know what that means.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I read A Last Chance to See by Douglas Adams years after I'd read the Hitchhikers Guide series and I was really floored at how powerfully he could write seriously aside from his usual satirical tone. The only other book that really stands out to me was Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. I had to read it for a class and it took me by complete surprise. I've never really read anything so bizarre and visceral as that.

Movies: Blues Brothers, Ghostbusters, Army of Darkness, Young Frankenstein, Clue, almost all the Godzillas, both Trons, Speed Racer, most of the Die Hards, most cheesy movies and some more serious movies, though I'm more likely to be in the mood to watch something funny than something serious.

Shows: Arrested Development, Community, Sherlock, MST3K, Breaking Bad, The Twilight Zone, most of the 90's WB cartoons like Batman and Freakazoid. I can't get into Game of Thrones. I tried watching the first episode recently and I lost interest halfway through.

Music: Lots of different stuff that isn't most country, pop, and rap.
Hard rock, heavy metal, classical, jazz, swing, techno, house, some dub step, orchestral movie soundtrack type stuff, video game soundtracks, 90's alternative, yacht rock, really weird experimental cacophonous stuff ("Threnody for the victims of Hiroshima" comes to mind)...I can appreciate or at least learn to eventually appreciate most music, but those are some of the genres I put on regularly.

Food: A really good homemade Macaroni and Cheese is awesome. Also Sushi, Pho and most curries, Massaman probably being my favorite. Really, the only thing I don't really look forward to is Chinese food. Lemon chicken is good, though.
The six things I could never do without
-- Being nice. I try to be good, helpful, and forgiving to people (within reason) at all times. That might seem lame, but it's part of who I am.

-- Friends and Company. I love talking to people about most anything. Even talking with somebody who doesn't share my opinion is better than someone not willing to talk at all (as long as both parties are willing to listen).

-- A sense of humor. Mine can be a little bit dark, though I can tone it down if I need to.

-- Terrible weather. Deafening winds and thunderstorms, that kind of thing. Hail is a plus.

-- Sleep. It's a boring answer, but I like my sleep.

-- My rabbit Duster. He's a jerk sometimes, but I love him. When he decides to run around my room like a maniac it brings me out of any funk I could possibly be in.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I tend to be thinking up short movie scenes or story ideas. All those little moments end up becoming part of something bigger, but they usually begin as 30 second visions in my head (not hallucinations, just daydreams).
On a typical Friday night I am
Having dinner with my family and friends. Fridays are usually the night when we all get together and sort of wind down from the week and share 'war' stories.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a Tinder account that's been completely unsuccessful. I made it basically with the same idea as when I made my account on here (meet friends, hopefully find a girlfriend, that kind of thing), and I've gotten a couple matches but no responses.

I'm a pretty honest person, really. Just ask me what you want to know and I'll tell you.
You should message me if
Message me for whatever reason you want! I'm very available, I'm way too willing to give people my phone number, and I have absolutely no expectations. Also, please message me instead of liking me since OKCupid only tells me who likes me if I pay them? That's kinda messed up. I mean, if I knew who they were I'd probably like them too!!

If you decide not to message me, best of luck finding people on here and have a nice day!
