My hobbies include roleplaying (online, usually text-only), playing the piano/keyboard, and writing, among other things.
I like watching the rain, and sunsets, and just being out in nature when I'm not spending time indoors.
I'm responsible, financially secure, and reasonably open-minded. While I enjoy social events with friends, I tend towards smaller gatherings.
I'm pretty laid-back and easygoing; it takes a lot to upset me, and I also calm down pretty quickly. I do not seek out confrontations, but I will stand up to someone that attempts to take advantage of me or my friends.
I missed the forests and beaches too much, in the end, so when the opportunity came up for me to move back, I jumped on it!
I still have a home in Tucson, and will likely keep it until or unless I can buy a home here in CA, but that's still a long-term goal.
Outside of work, I try to work on my hobbies as time permits. I don't sleep in as much as I used to, though I certainly enjoy leisurely days where nothing is forcing me to get up.
Beyond that, I'm now situated at a job where I could conceivably work until I retire, so that's a welcome change.
I seem to have a talent for finding trustworthy friends.
I'm also generally a quiet person, since I don't actively seek to be the center of attention, but I will speak up if I think I have something to contribute. I also tend to be more talkative if it's only me and one other person that are actually conversing.
People also notice when I swear, because I almost never do. I rather prefer it that way.
My tastes in literature generally include Fantasy and Science Fiction, with a bit of Horror tossed in.
It's about the same for movies, with some additional emphasis on Action shows, and I enjoy the occasional Documentary. I don't watch much TV anymore, but I do love Mythbusters!
I like a variety of music, with my interests tending towards pop, rock, new age, instrumental, dance/techno, and other random selections. I have a special fondness for 80s music, like Journey, but it's certainly not the only thing in my set!
My tastes for food are largely American, but there are at least a few foods I like out of nearly every cuisine, and a few that I really enjoy, like teriyaki chicken.
But outside of that, as I try very hard to not think about work when I at home, my focus tends to be on whatever project has my current attention. These could range from a new song I'm learning, or a short story I want to write, to computer projects or home improvements.
Also, I've discovered over time that I sometimes have difficulty maintaining eye contact with people I don't know well, especially in personal rather than professional settings. I was taught not to stare as a kid, and for some reason that instruction is so reflexive now that I have constantly fight it. So if I glance away frequently, it's all me, not you. ;) It'll go away as I get to know you better!
