My self-summary
Hi there! I'm Alex. I'm a fiesty feminist bookworm who loves watching Blues hockey and talking politics.

I graduated with honors from Webster University in 2011 with a major in English Literature and minors in Women's Studies, Philosophy, and Media Communications.

I currently work as a content specialist (glorified editor and project manager) for an online freelance management service. It's a stressful job and I work long hours but I'm lucky enough to say that I love what I do.

Above all I'm really attracted to people who are both intelligent and passionate. I would rather stay in and talk than go out and fist pump in the club. I love that fiery look in someone's eyes when they're talking about something they really care about. It's a big turnoff for me when a person doesn't have at least one thing in their life that they can get really excited about.

Some things I get excited (talking) about: Feminism, David Foster Wallace, LGBTQ rights, institutionalized racism, anarchism, drug laws, police brutality, religion and spirituality, gender, hockey, conspiracy theories, Jenny Lewis, existentialism, mountains, aliens, etc.

While I like to discuss important issues and have deep conversations, I also think I have a good (sometimes dark) sense of humor. I absolutely LOVE to laugh and make others laugh. Life is serious enough as it is, and we can all use a little more funny in it.

As I mentioned before, I'm not a big partier and I'm a bit of an introvert, so I generally prefer ordering pizza and watching Netflix than going out somewhere. I'm also a super picky eater, so good luck taking me out to dinner! BUT I do like to go out and have a good time when the occasion calls for it; I'm not *totally* boring. Like... Have you ever played demolition ball?! So dope.

I'm super low maintainence. 99.9% of the time I'm in jeans and a tshirt. I haven't worn heels since prom, and I almost never wear makeup. If you're into super feminine women (and there's nothing wrong with that!) I'm probably not your gal. :)
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to enjoy it.
I’m really good at
Reading, writing, and conversing. Correcting your grammar and telling you when you're being sexist. Debating. Yelling during hockey.
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Anything by David Foster Wallace. Lately I've made a concerted effort to read more books written by females. So far I've read "Wild" by Cheryl Strayed (surprisingly great), "Yes Please" by Amy Poehler (good), and "Bad Feminist: Essays" by Roxane Gay (meh). Currently: "Bossypants" by Tina Fey.

Movies: "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," "The Big Lebowski," "Mad Max: Fury Road" (I want to see it again!), "Don Jon," "Chasing Amy," "Super High Me"

Shows: "Roseanne," "Law and Order SVU," "House," "30 Rock," "Garfunkel and Oates," "Cheers," "Louie," "United States of Tara," "Maron"

Music: JENNY LEWIS (I want to marry her), Rilo Kiley, Andrew W.K., Bon Iver, Tallest Man on Earth, Deer Tick, Zeppelin, Modest Mouse, Incubus, Rage Against the Machine, Jay-Z, Hendrix, Missy Elliott, Tegan and Sara, Fleetwood Mac

Food: I'm a super picky eater. My staples are pizza, burgers, chicken, steak, and toasted ravs. I don't eat cheese or pasta.
Six things I could never do without
A good book, my pup, my glasses, the Internet, friends, family, etc.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Gender, sexuality, politics, society, religion, philosophy. And hip hop.
On a typical Friday night I am
Eating ice cream and watching Dateline.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
The thing I hate the most about dating someone new is having to hold in your farts.

I don't shave my legs. At least not very often.
You should message me if
You know the difference between "your" and "you're." You aren't holding a dead deer in your pictures. You aren't shirtless in your pictures. You don't have a picture of your car. You aren't a redneck. You have a job.
The two of us
