I think STYLE above all IS A SENSE of HUMOR, something beyond contempt.
I am over there, wondering, and wearing a stupid hat
Italo Calvino's "if on a winter night's a traveller..."
or "The Wind-up Bird Chronicle" by Murakami, or THE UNCONSOLED by Ishiguro or J. Joyce's "Dubliners"
The Killer Inside Me, Franny and Zoe, and I'm into Tobias Wolfe, Michael Chabon, ANAIS NIN, and other dirty literature.
THE WALKING DEAD, Jimmy Fallon, Zoolander, Bruce Campbell, Nathan Filleon, The Three Amigos, IT's ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, SNL forever fan.
Serious movies like Shortbus, Young Frankenstein, True Romance, and The Dreamers matter to me. But I'm into violent art like The Godfather, Terry Gilliam, and Kubric movies. Adult Swim, SPACEBALLS, Anchorman, STEPBROTHERS, The Fisher King, and the utterly shame worthy MACGRUBER don't ever offend my senses. Tim and Eric, Eddie Murphy, and the Sarah Silverman Program used to make me laugh, and Southpark hasn't stopped. Did I mention SPACEBALLS? Do I need a bad ass gun toting Druish princess? DAVID LYNCH! David Mamet; Spanish Prisoner, Red Belt... EVIL DEAD 2! Sam RAIMI always! Oh, damn, and DRAG ME TO HELL.
I'm into Natasha Leggero and Amy Schumer.
THE WEEKEND, Sammy Davis, Jr., Def Leopard, The White Stripes, Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, Michael Jackson, Brian Eno, Nick Cave, MGMT, Spoon, Freddie Mercury, The Rolling Stones, Franz Ferdinand, David Bowie, Billie Holiday, and so on and so on
NPR all hours of the day
But when I'm out of work I'm thinking about anything but the above.
But any given day, I could be at a dive bar enjoying a band, out with my pals discovering a new restaurant/watering hole, or kicking it with my pals playing poker.
