My self-summary
27 • ESFJ • NY➡OR➡CA • Moved for a change of pace and a new adventure • working at the San Francisco Art Institute • a bit of a wanderlust • in limbo between wanting a substantial relationship with someone who's independent with their own aspirations, and fearing having to part with solely prioritizing mine • loved ones tell me they experience me to be incredibly thoughtful, genuine, and caring • I am discerning with who I invest that energy in, it needs to be a two way street • hell bent on shattering glass ceilings • I spend a lot of time thinking about social identities and how they influence the way in which we navigate the world • if you don't, I'm not passing judgment, but I'm unsure how substantial our interactions could be • i'm very affectionate once I'm comfortable • and not on here for any specific thing, I just like human connection.
What I’m doing with my life
Enjoying the ride, perpetually hopping on planes/sitting in guilt around my carbon footprint, setting myself up for the future, doing a lot of dancing and performing at your local karaoke watering hole
I’m really good at
knowing myself
finishing your beer
staying calm in stressful situations
listening objectively
tactful transparency
word play
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Born confused, All About Love, Between the World and Me, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Black Butterfly, Anything by Nicholas Sparks (I'm a little embarrassed to admit that, but then I'm like fuck it, it's authentic even if it's dorky) or Jodi Picoult

TV: Sherlock, Grey's Anatomy, Scandal (SHONDAAA), Jane the Virgin, Modern Family, Arrested Development..I watch way too much TV - have on average 20 shows in the rotation at any given time.

Music: I like artists like the 1975, MS MR, Alessia Cara, Tori Kelly, Drake, The Lumineers, Tegan and Sara, Haim, Sara Bareilles, Chris Brown, Whitney Houston, Carrie Underwood..I could go on forever..I'm pretty eclectic in the way of I like everything, even country - despite realizing that the narrative of country music isn't commonly inclusive of queer women of color

Food: cheese, sushi, pizza, parsnips
Six things I could never do without
1. Headphones/music
2. Burt's bees
3. Phone
4. My bed/my snowman pillow
5. Kindle
6. Syracuse basketball
I spend a lot of time thinking about
-Finding ways to push and challenge myself so that I continue to grow as a person.
-Breaking old patterns of behavior even if they're seductive
-Piercings and tattoos
-Gender presentation
-How can anyone question that police brutality exists???!? Ignorance is bliss, but it sure ain't attractive.
-Resisting code switching, and subsequently wondering if being my authentic self means that I won't get as far in life..I think the only way to answer the question is to live it and see.
-Where do I want to live next?
-Are my 20s supposed to be an experimental mess?..I think so...?
-My unapologetic blackness and how I come into reclaiming my identities more and more every day
On a typical Friday night I am
Grabbing drinks with friends, dancing like a mutha fuckah..or sitting home alone, and truly loving it
You should message me if
You read this and you wanna:
adventure and/or grab a beer
have an intellectual conversation
I dunno, why not?
p.s. genuinely down to hang and try to see if we can be friends
The two of us
