My self-summary
I have learned a few Life lessons along the way and still learning. We have all had amazing experiences whether raising children, working many careers, traveling to other countries or simply noticing that a smile and a sincere ear can bring warmth to one’s heart. Wouldn’t it be great to share these experiences with a special someone? Now it is time to find each other!

I am open, honest, have integrity and appreciate the gifts we have been given to share with others. I enjoy a lively conversation that allows two people to stop time in the moment or continue across a lifetime. I can be silly and serious, pragmatic and playful, intrigued and introspective. I have done some internal work, learned enough to know that self-improvement of personal growth is a lifetime experience and hope that a potential partner would appreciate the same.

I am a California native, being raised in the Bay Area, having lived in several states, from Washington to Hawaii and from the state of unconsciousness to the state of self-awareness. We are fortunate to have so many wonderful places to explore in our area and so many introspective paths to learn from. I have also been fortunate to travel abroad, with recent trips to London and Istanbul. My passport is current and I have a long list of destinations that call to me.

I enjoy hikes in the hills, from Pt. Reyes and Muir Woods to Mt. Tam, strolls along the beaches of Monterey or Mendocino, live music (especially jazz and classic rock), along with movies on the big screen and DVDs at home. I like weekend getaways to explore new areas, as well as discovering cuisines at new restaurants. I have been a vegetarian for over half of my life, but I do not impose that upon others.

Relationships are important to me. I value the trust, respect, tenderness, intimacy and passion that can evolve over time with the right spark of chemistry. I am looking for that special someone to explore the many levels of a deepening connection intellectually, emotionally and physically that is wrapped with sweetness. I look forward to exploring more, while all along the way discovering how we each can bring out the best in the other.
What I’m doing with my life
After working in the tech industry for most of my career in financial management, I decided I wanted to give something back. A few years ago I joined a large non-profit that helps other non-profits around the world. I am now working with another non-profit that helps those in communities throughout the Bay Area and beyond. I find this work to be very rewarding!
I’m really good at
I have been known to do “air math”. I also have a unique skill to always have the right size container for whatever is leftover. Oh the special gifts we all have…aren’t they great!
The first things people usually notice about me
People usually notice how deep water blue my eyes are and that I am a good listener.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
For music, I enjoy jazz and classic rock of the late 60s and throughout the 70s. From Miles, Coltrane, Bill Evans, Lee Morgan, Herbie Hancock and Clifford Brown to the Doors, Steely Dan and Stevie Wonder all renew my spirit. Concerts that I have seen through time include: Allman Brothers, Loggins and Messina
Bonnie Raitt, Joni Mitchell, Grateful Dead (many times), Santana (with the Dead), The Who (with the Dead), Rolling Stones, Eddie Money, Tom Petty, Jackson Browne, Moody Blues, Lionel Richie,
Sons of Champlin (anybody remember them?), The Eagles with
Jimmy Buffet at Aloha Stadium, Wierd Al Yankovic, Linda Ronstadt,
Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley, Maceo Parker (James Brown's Sax Player),
Al Jareau, Pat Methany, Ron Carter, Wayne Shorter, McCoy Tyner
Poncho Sanchez, Kurt Elling, Lee Ritenour, Chick Corea and Return to Forever, The Jazz Crusaders with Joe Sample,
...just to name a few.

For movies, I enjoy classic oldies to new current blockbusters (with some plot!) to indies. I recently saw Lincoln, Hitchcock, Argo, Oz and Olympus Has Fallen, all which should give you an idea of the diverse movies I enjoy. Other favorites include American Beauty, Usual Suspects, Princess Bride, any Bogart or Hitchcock, along with indies like Death at a Funeral (the British version) and Closed Loop . Way too many to list...

For food, I am a vegetarian and have a lot of creative ideas how to make meals special and nutritious.
Six things I could never do without
Human touch
Water, being on it, by it, drinking it up or swimming in it
My Children
To love and be loved
Sleep....eventually, which is why I need morning coffee (oops..that's six plus one more)!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend a lot of time thinking about traveling to far away places, how to spend free time, enjoying my children, the many hats I wear as a father, as a valued employee and as a potential partner for a special someone....
On a typical Friday night I am
Meet friends for drinks and dinner, go hear live music, watch a movie on the big screen or DVDs at home, watch the sun melt away into the horizon or have a romantic interlude.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't wear a watch, but have a good sense of time.
You should message me if
If something I have written sparks your interest to want to learn more and if you live within an hour of the greater Oakland area, please write. I would rather get a short note of interest than missing out an opportunity for two great souls to meet. And please don't worry about the age range as it is only a guideline. So if you are younger or older and have interest, just send along a note to let me know what we may have in common...or not.
