My self-summary
Although I've had a profile up for a long time I don't go out much, but still believe that love is our finest instinct, and what I want in life is a real friend and ally. Love, I think, is a sensible, yet transcendent urge designed by nature to keep the special people we know we can depend on close to us. I’ve been divorced for about 15 years with no children, and pretty rusty on how to date, but am looking for shared values, intimacy and pleasure with a woman whose qualities reflect my own. Someone to share special times and simple pleasures.

I'm a professional in arts and culture with a naturally slender build, and find cultural awareness and a slender physique very attractive. I enjoy the company of a younger woman who’s pretty, urbane and still looking forward in life… smart, sexy and cool… down to earth, with a playful spirit and liberal values. I prefer simple things… drive a ragtop, enjoy day trips and use my turn signal even when no one's looking, and can enjoy a good red ale or craft beer, but prefer wine, and like my humor dry. Adore nature, but am not into roughing it and prefer a warm bed and a shower in the morning and the company of a woman who's consciously feminine and likes to spoon. I value loyalty and gratitude, and love a playful spirit, wit... curiosity and intellect… affection, frivolity, love and enchantment.

Despite not having my own children, I rented a room to a young protégé over the last year so she could afford to live here while interning at a museum. She left for graduate school in art conservation in mid-August, so now I'm an empty nester, and miss having her around.
What I’m doing with my life
art conservator in a public institution. (historic furniture and wooden artifacts)
I’m really good at
... my craft... and appreciating beauty in everyday life.
The first things people usually notice about me
Well, obviously how handsome, witty and charming I am.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My taste...
I tend to read nonfiction and have an art history background, but easy and accessible taste, and enjoy the Sunday NYT... The Atlantic... and Salon. Some favorites books are... John Berger "Ways of Seeing"; John Dewey "Art as Experience"; and always the writings of William James.

I grew up around DC, which is a soul town, and love Classic Soul and Old School R&B, '60's-70's Country/Folk-Rock, and Romantic Symphony and Italian Opera... Verdi and Puccini!

Nice food is nice, and wine is wonderful too, though I don't drink much or like really hot food, and prefer to eat something lean and healthy. Can’t call myself a foodie though, since I can simply forget to eat if I'm really focused elsewhere.
The six things I could never do without
Music and Arts
I spend a lot of time thinking about
- Meeting someone and getting off this site...
- And if anyone reads this..!
On a typical Friday night I am
Relaxing at home with a glass of wine.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
- I'm actually more partial to the adagio movement than the allegro...
- And have no interest in Republicans or conservatives... at all.
