My self-summary
"I would never want to belong to any club that would have someone like me for a member."

I'm from a smallish suburb of Chicago - so yes, if you have an understanding of geography - that makes me American. But please don't hold it against me, I got out of the states as soon as I could and have been living in Toronto for about nine years now. I love this city and all it has to offer. It's such a creative place and I plan on living here for a very long time.

I love watching films, reading, and making people laugh. I'm a bit of a home body and don't go out too much.

You can always feel free to ask me any questions you'd like! I'm an open book.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a freelance video shooter/editor to pay the bills, but my real passion is filmmaking. I have written/directed/produced two feature-length films in the last six years and if I ever get time off work, I'd like to work on my third.

In the meantime, I'm always working on other project including short films, web series, sketch comedy, and I wrote/directed my first play in 2014.
I’m really good at
Being there for my friends and loved ones. My number one priority in life is to find and maintain real connections with other people. I find everyone fascinating.
The first things people usually notice about me
I would say probably my glasses, or maybe that my facial hair has a red tint to it - the last evidence that I was a ginger in my youth.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Some of my favorite authors:
David Sedaris, Jonathan Ames, Jonathan Franzen, Phillip Roth, Charles Bukowski, Hemingway, Fitzgerald (I tend to romanticize alcoholic assholes when it comes to my reading if you haven't noticed!) I also love reading plays and screenplays, my two favorite playwrights are Edward Albee and Neil Labute.

Some of my favorite filmmakers:
Woody Allen, Charlie Kaufman, Wes Anderson, Paul Thomas Anderson, Mike Nichols, Noah Baumbach, John Cassavetes, Hal Ashby, Clint Eastwood, Judd Apatow, Alexander Payne, Spike Jonze, Werner Herzog, and Bobcat Goldwaith.

A lot of television is terrible, but I also believe some of it is surpassing film as an art form nowadays. Some of my favorite shows:
Louie, Breaking Bad, Damages, Treme, The Killing, The Wire, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Curb your Enthusiasm, Girls, Looking, Masters of Sex, True Detective, American Horror Story, Extras, Veep, Hannibal, The Big C, Twin Peaks, and Game of Thrones (though I also find a lot of it frustrating... I only like the assholes on the show)

I have a very eclectic mixture of music I listen to:
Tom Lehrer, Randy Newman, Daniel Johnston, Ragina Spektor, Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead, I like lots of hipster music - but I couldn't probably name you one artist... A lot of it sounds alike to me and while I really like it, I couldn't tell you who it was, Same goes with Jazz - I am completely in love with Jazz music and can put it on whenever and whatever mood I'm in. I don't care who it is, there's just a feeling I get one good jazz comes on. My favorite style of jazz is of the New Orleans variety.

My favorite food:
Anything vegetarian is great.

I like going to pubs with my friends on occasion and there's honestly nothing that makes me happier than a veggie burger and a beer.
The six things I could never do without
1) My Friends
2) My Dog - his name is Kaufman and he is very neurotic. He is my minion.
3) My Bike
4) My Camera
5) My iPad - I do most of my screenwriting and reading on it.
6) Woody Allen
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Are all blind people bisexual? I mean... They can't see... So is it like... Anything goes?

When not pondering the sexual orientation of blind people, I'm usually working on some sort of premise for a film in my head.

I also hate fedoras. I get so angry when I see someone walking around in public wearing one that I worry about my mental health. Just don't wear fedoras, guys!
On a typical Friday night I am
Working on a script, editing video for pay, hanging out with friends, or just relaxing at home after the long week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When I was sixteen years old, my grandparents dragged me to a memorial service for Ronald Reagan as he had just passed away and they lived one town over from where he was born. It seemed like it went on for three hours and during the service I noticed a cute guy in the audience. By the end of the service I had worked it out in my head that I liked boys - something which had never even crossed my mind prior to that.

Ronald Reagan made me gay.

I've also never had ketchup in my entire life.
You should message me if
You read my profile and think we might get along. I'm quite easy to talk to and am always looking to meet interesting, creative, and intelligent people.

I've just taken a few months off from all this and decided to open the account again - though I'm in no hurry to go on a date if there isn't some chemistry.

Not looking for hookups - I'm at a point in my life where I'd really like a partner in crime and am interested in finding a guy to possibly delete okcupid with.

Also bonus points if you can tell me where my username is from! (if you clearly googled it though, then no bonus points)
