My self-summary
I'm an adventurer and a homebody wrapped into one endearingly lovable and imperfect package.
I have a generous, fun, and deeply loving spirit. I am caring, and fiercely loyal. People make my world go round.
And also sometimes I'm super duper snarky.

I ride the introvert-extrovert line; I think I'm what they call an extroverted introvert. So you can take me almost anywhere and I'll make a friend, endear myself to your family, or wow your co-workers. But I'll be exhausted after the fact and you'll have to let me be quiet for awhile.

My world is full and fun and happy. Also often pretty busy. But it turns out I'm one special person short in all of this, and really ready for that to change!

I like women who are confident, with a sparkly spirit who see the world as full of possibility and believe they can make of it whatever they want. Women who walk with purpose, think deeply, laugh mightily, don't take themselves too seriously, get up and go, communicate effectively, and who can seduce me with a mere glance.
What I’m doing with my life
I think I live a pretty good life. By the season it looks a little like this:

Summer - Beach; lounging in the sunshine; biking; tomatoes, corn on the cob, watermelon; maximizing time off; G&T

Fall - Day hikes; changing leaves; bonfires; boulevardiers; relishing new beginnings; delicious fall treats (but never a pumpkin spice latte. Never ever.)

Winter - Playing in the snow; skiing; cozy blankets; making soup and bread; twinkly lights; red wine

Spring - Planting a garden; tennis; shaking out the cobwebs; soaking in the light and all the colors; sneezing
I’m really good at
Someone told me recently that I’m really good at showing kids I love them but that I mean business and not to cross me. I think that's pretty much my best life skill with people of all ages.

Here's what my friends who edited my profile (unanimously) said I had to say: I'm really good at drawing people in, making them feel welcome, and creating spaces where good people who I love can make friends and connections with each other. I throw a pretty amazing party.
The first things people usually notice about me
A co-worker once looked at me across the table at a meeting and said “wow, you have really amazing lips.” Awkward moment for her. But true.

Also, I've been told I ask really good questions.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
There is a pile of books on my nightstand that are partially read: EM and the big HOOM, My Beloved World, All the Light We Cannot See, Amerikanah, Between the World and Me. Which one should I finish first? Also, Gabo and magic realism changed my life forever.

I vacillate between cheesy rom-coms, super cerebral documentaries, and dramas with a message (this genre is maybe defined by Traffic, Erin Brokovich, The Help, etc. - does it have a name?), but no singular favorites.

I’m a total cliche when it comes to TV: Scandal, The Fosters, Grace & Frankie, West Wing, Nashville, House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Transparent.

Basically I love music, but I want someone else to take over my iTunes and make me awesome playlists because my brain doesn't seem to remember that song I liked two minutes after I heard it. I don't have a genre, so just as a sampling, I can't get enough of Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell, Michael Franti, The Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, Stevie Wonder, Carlos Vives, Calle 13, Talib Kweli.

If I’m picking a vacation spot based solely on food we’re going to Spain, Greece, Lebanon or Turkey, or Argentina. Or maybe Mexico, or Japan. Oh, or Thailand! I appreciate food people make for me with love, always. And I really like to cook for people; it’s my absolute favorite way to spend a day.
The six things I could never do without
Recognizing this question is ridiculous (air, water, shelter, love, etc: duh), my list of six is entirely made up of people. But if I list off their names you won’t know who they are so that’d be boring for all of us.

I really value my sense of smell – I think it’s my most powerful sense and I love when I come home from a great trip and unpack and my clothes still smell like the place I just left and I’m transported back.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Social justice. Racial equity. Human rights. Gender justice. Worker rights. How to stem the tide of hate, and seed love across race, religion, class, nationality, gender, sexuality, etc.

Also, counter top and floor tile options for my kitchen...
On a typical Friday night I am
Unwinding. How that goes depends on the week.
But if I get to choose, it would often be a long dinner with good friends that begins with cocktails, ends with tea, includes something yummy in between and is woven together with great conversation and side splitting laughter. And maybe after that we’d dance. Or maybe that would be a different night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I really like to be right. But for the most part I’m very good-natured about it when I'm not.
You should message me if
You sense potential compatibility or chemistry, and you're willing to see if that hunch holds up in real life. I am much more fun in-person than I am emailing through an online dating site. You are caring and thoughtful and tuned in to people around you.

You're looking for a real relationship, because I definitely am.

You are probably more butch than femme. Or maybe you're not. Chemistry is such a fascinating thing!

PS: other places besides DC that I spend a lot of time and partially consider home are Brooklyn, Minneapolis, Maine. The likelihood I could meet a really awesome person for a date in one of those places is very high. Just felt worth throwing that tidbit of information in there, because you never know!
