My self-summary
Everyone forgets that Icarus also flew.

I'm from the Midwest and I'm told I'm very Midwestern. If you're not sure what that means, I understand; I had the same problem with "hipster" when I first moved here.

I like intellectual conversations, good food and globetrotting. I'm pretty moderate, and don't like to judge people for what they want. It's legitimately difficult to get me upset, but I do tend to be very passionate about things I believe in. Maybe you'll see that if I come to believe in you.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an investor with a writing hobby and a hope that someday the two will switch.

I used to have a startup. Startups are hard.
I’m really good at
Calculating present discounted blah blah blah, procrastinating, planning trips, writing, taking care of people, wit.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read a lot. Mostly nonfiction, classics and a bit of sci-fi/fantasy. An abbreviated list: 1984, East of Eden, The Sandman, The Better Angels of our Nature, The Bottom Billion, Huckleberry Finn, The Great Gatsby, Neuromancer, The Signal and the Noise, Erfworld, Paradise Lost, The Merchant of Venice, Three Parts Dead, The Last Question, The Giving Tree, David Foster Wallace's essays, Sylvia Plath, Robert Frost and Emily Dickinson's poetry.

TV and movies: Lawrence of Arabia, Casablanca, The Muppet Christmas Carol (seriously), Mad Men, FLCL, Rick and Morty, Firefly, pretty much all of Kurosawa and Hitchcock, Gangs of New York, The Godfather, In the Heat of the Night, and all right all right Archer, god damn you H Jon Benjamin and your hilarious voice.

I like musicals, plays, and cultural stuff. Music isn't really a big thing for me.

I really, really, really like fine dining. But I wish we could all collectively admit that beer just kinda tastes bad.
The six things I could never do without
Spreadsheets (Obviously, I'm incredibly interesting)
A nice bed. You spend a third of your life in bed; more, if you're doing it right
Good conversation
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Politics; I have no God; what I have is the United States of America. On the whole I find this is a good trade. There is a lot of evidence the United States exists, and appears marginally more likely to make prayers come true, though I do notice that people often seem to blame both deities and governments for things that have nothing to do with either, and may in fact be of their own doing.
On a typical Friday night I am
The same thing we do every night, Pinky.

Don't let me tell you what to do (unless you're into that)
