My self-summary
I'm a laid back person for the most part, who enjoys music, movies, and cooking. I'm pretty open-minded, but don't back down from my own beliefs. I enjoy the company of good friends and good wine, but definitely need my own space. I tend to be a loner sometimes, but definitely not a hermit.
What I’m doing with my life
I bought my house three years ago, and live comfortably close to my friends and family. I wait tables downtown, and people may scoff at that, but it allows me to pay my bills and travel comfortably when I want. I love to get out of town and visit distant friends and cities. I have two kitties, Dinah and Sasha, and just decided to take on my first puppy, Shelbey, a pit/lab mix.
I’m really good at
Music is my life... I grew up being trained in music theory, and play guitar, piano, and sing. I used to play out a few years ago, but find it hard to find the time anymore. I still play for myself, and love to write on the piano.
I love to cook, so I am always in the kitchen, and never back down from throwing a good dinner party paired with some great wine.
My favorite thing, however, to do is watch movies. I am an avid movie buff, and love cinema (good and bad) more than anything. Strangely, I find it is hard to get me to go to a theater, as I would much rather watch a movie at home with my little pet family.
Other than that, nothing beats a good glass of wine and great classic novel.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably my sense of humor, or how I know no stranger. I've been in the service industry for the best part of the past decade, so it is kind of a job requirement.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Virginia Woolf's "To the Lighthouse" is my favorite piece of literature ever. Other than that, I love David Sedaris, C.S. Lewis, and sadly Michael Chrichton (I grew up in the 80's and 90's, what can i say).
Movies: my favorite movie series is by far the Alien Quadrilogy. Hitchcock also fuels my blood. Classic cinema makes me smile.
Other than that I feel that here lately, we have been extremely lucky with the quality of movies that the industry is producing. So many important stories being told, and have yet to be told. I love movies of all kind.
Music: I'm all over the map. I was taught music theory, so I feel as if I can like some radio crap and not feel too judged by that. Madonna is my absolute favorite, but other than that anything from alternative, to bluegrass, a good soul record here and there.... jam bands need not apply, nor Hip Hop...
Food: Previously I would have put sushi right at the beginning, but I have over-indulged and very much tired of oriental food. Give me a well-prepared Spanish dish any day. I love French food immensely, as well as anything persian. Italian will always be a staple of any American's diet... as well as a good pizza, hot dog, or burger.
I tend to believe that sometimes food is a vessel for condiments at times... and find myself pulling through an Arby's drive-through window with the sole purpose of obtaining as much Arby's sauce as I possibly can.
Six things I could never do without
My best friend in New York, who is practically my soul mate.
a piano
fresh vegetables
good wine
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Ways to tell my story. Ways to spend thoughtful time with friends and family.
On a typical Friday night I am
Most definitely working, service industry here, not too many friday nites off...
But afterwards, it isn't too hard to find me catching a beer after a shift with co-workers.
I tend to stay out of the clubs, as nothing comes from them but absolute drama, and an average IQ of 80. Eye candy doesn't really work for me when your mouth screws it up.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Well, that wouldn't make it very private now, would it?
You should message me if
You have something to say, you are interesting, and you have your own opinions and ideals...
