My sense of humor was recently described as "delightfully fucked up" and I liked it enough I included it here.
I would never describe myself as "nice." I care way more about telling the truth than I do about how people will feel when they hear it. Integrity has cost me a lot of friends... And I'm still not gonna stop being blunt and honest. I'll be alone before I'll be full of shit.
I think people who listen to the radio or who claim pizza is their favorite food are entirely devoid of taste. Off with their heads.
Wes Anderson, Charlie Kaufman, PT Anderson, Coen Brothers.
Gorillaz - absolutely all of it. Bright Eyes, The Mountain Goats, Radiohead, The Killers, Devotchka
Always Sunny, Shameless, The Leftovers, Rick & Morty, Broad City, BoJack Horseman, The Office, Family Guy is my comfy fall-asleep show.
Kashmir, Ramsi's, Brickhouse, Game, Highland Morning, Sake Blue, Falaffel House, all the food at Disney World.
No, seriously... I could live without a lot... But, here are 6 things I absolutely love.
1) Reddit / Wikipedia / 4chan
...I love having something interesting to browse through. I like the feeling of learning or investing in something entertaining or just scrolling through terribly offensive nonsense and wallpapers.
2) PS4 / Netflix / Hulu / HBOgo
...I love my PS4. I play artsy puzzle games, platformers, story games. Not a big fan of shooters or war games. If I'm gonna play a campaign, it's GTAV and I will definitely be consumed by Spider-Man PS4. That E3 footage is incredible. I'm also a binge-watcher. My PS4 is possibly my favorite piece of technology.
3) Being Generous
...I love being able to treat people. Dinner. A show. Whatever. But I will never loan or give you cash. That's the quickest way to end a relationship. I'm not being greedy. I'm being blunt. The moment you buy so much as a burger off the dollar menu while you owe me money, we are done forever. So I just don't let that situation happen anymore.
4) Charlie Kaufman
...I love the single greatest screenwriter to ever live! Being John Malkovich... Adaptation... Human Nature... Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind... Synechdoche, New York... Anomalisa... Every single thing he writes is better than the last, better every time you watch it, feels crazy the first time and clicks hard the second and third and fourth. He's just fucking brilliant. An interviewer once asked him how he wrote movies with no structure and he almost lost it. His movies have perfect structure. The very idea that someone could watch his bizarre worlds and not realize the structure underneath is really a testament to how his brain works. Even if you don't wanna talk to me, seek out Kaufman movies. It will improve your soul.
...I love people who spent their early 20s investigating existentialism, nihilism, interconnectedness, absurdism, manifestation, the law of attraction. I think it can come off as pretentious, sure, but that's what your early 20s are for... As you age, you'll drop the pretense but still be left with the universal truths. There is no inherent value. Meaning is projected. Quality is objective, enjoyment is subjective.
...I love that more people than I can count on both hands have described me as "real." I look for that quality in others, too. I am a communicator and I can't have relationships with people who keep their feelings and opinions to themselves. I am intensely honest, which some people find abrasive. I can't have relationships with people who get their feelings hurt and think that's just the end of us. Fucking argue back. It's healthy. I like it. I might even need it. Arguing doesn't mean I hate you and never wanna see you again. It means I don't feel heard and I don't accept not being heard very well.
