With the exception of my brief journey west, I've lived in Baltimore for a while now, and I think it's a pretty rad place.
Now I teach and I write. In each case, I do one so that I can support doing the other.
I'm also pretty proud of the writing I do. I write for a few local publications, and I have a few stories and poems published, and I can stand behind most of it without any embarrassment.
A few of the books I read this year and enjoyed:
[insert] boy by Danez Smith
Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
The Hatred of Poetry by Ben Lerner
Music: I can't really tell any more. I grew up on skate- and polisci- punk, but nowadays my taste is pretty broad. Before the election, I was listening to a lot of The Drums and Stornaway. The last few weeks has been revisiting protest punk and folk songs.
TV: I want to tell you that I don't watch television, but that would be a lie. Protip: there are more seasons of The Great British Baking Show, but they are named The Great British Bake Off.
Poetry and poetics
My dog, Chickpea
Not everyone is up for that. It's cooI--I don't hold it against you (but you should probably look elsewhere if you've got baggage about either).
Most importantly, please *don't* message me if you're sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic or generally unkind.
