My self-summary
My dog and I are going to travel from Saint Louis, Missouri to San Francisco, California via bicycle. We leave January 1st.

[See "What I'm doing with my life" for more details.]

Au revoir, Saint Louis!

"Your joy is your sorrow unmasked. And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears." ~ Kahlil Gibran

I love the idea of finding that one perfect person just like in all the stories and movies and songs, but I'm certainly not the perfect, rich, handsome, mysterious, etc. hero in those stories. A perfect heroine, some pining princess would certainly not be impressed by the likes of me.... so maybe I won't hold my breath that my ideal match is waiting for me.

Maybe I'll just have to meet nice people here in the real world and treat them with honesty and respect and approach each relationship as if it has the potential to last forever... and then spend time grieving if/when it ends and try again?

If you have a better suggestion, I'm open.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why are there so many songs about rainbows,
and what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
and rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it.
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.
On a typical Friday night I am
Just a castaway
An island lost at sea
Another lonely day
With no one here but me
More loneliness
Than any man could bear
Rescue me before I fall into despair
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
they mostly come at night. mostly.
You should message me if
Walked out this morning
Don't believe what I saw
A hundred billion bottles
Washed up on the shore
Seems I'm not alone at being alone
A hundred billion castaways
Looking for a home
The two of us
