My self-summary
What I think about life is we’re in it for the pursuit of happiness. Happiness is fleeting because it changes right along with everything else so it’s always slightly different. (Keep yourself tuned to the parade!) Run barefoot in the grass. Pick a flower for someone. Taste an exquisite flavor. Kiss an exquisite mouth. Speak the truth. Play a ‘perfect’ chord. Touch a hand. Smell the sand. Cut your chains to stuff. Try very hard not to pretend any more. Live freshly. Open your heart. Garage-sale your avocado age. Tell someone how great they are. See a face light up. Smoke a joint. Do the opposite of convention now and then. Pour orange juice over cereal. Throw peanut shells on the floor. Eat a hot-fudge sundae once in a while.
Yes I am different. No I don’t live for convention. I have more than enough for freedom. There’s enough to share with you. I’m getting better at not wanting things.
So after you’ve dated your 50- 60- and 70-year-old hunks and wonder why you’re still not happy, try me. Before you tap on my window, though, please read Dylan’s “All I really Want To do….” Lyrics. (Just Google it) Not trying to change you or re-arrange you. All I really want to do, is baby be friends with you… maybe more, if we both feel good about it.
I don’t drink or smoke tobacco, no hard drugs, take no meds. Repeat – no meds. (OK a baby aspirin and a multi-vitamin.) I don’t limp, pimp, or skimp through life. If you limp I’ll lift you. I have no preconceived ideas of ‘beauty’ except maybe one - I love plump.
Pursuit of Happiness, anyone?

I am Adventuresome, Romantic, and Geeky
What I’m doing with my life
I am a computer coach. Most of my clients learned Windows by having it dumped in their lap and then like Hansel or Gretel had to find their way out of the woods all by themselves. (No GPS, either! LOL) Some of the paths are difficult ones and my clients delight in seeing how to make them less challenging. I volunteer a lot at our local Libraries and at our Senior Center and also have a private practice.
I’m really good at
Being patient. I delight in explaining the complex in un-complicated ways.
I'm also quite good at giving full body massage. I once attended a certified massage school and give very good massages - especially scalp and shoulders and all those "Ah, yes, right there!" places. I'm an excellent conversationalist, having learned that the most interesting story is that from the heart of the person I'm listening to. I'm very good too around the house - being a retired engineer I can calm those sparky wires, stop that gurgly leak, quiet that squeaky hinge, freshen the kitchen by exiting the trash, wash and/or dry dish or pot. Oh and I'm also very good at intimate linguistic specialties perhaps discussed better in private!
The first things people usually notice about me
I walk too fast. Yes I really can slow down but it's an old family trait. People have remarked about my enthusiasm about almost anything. Sure I can get dressy but I like to wear casual clothes and I like to wear stuff that's different. Although I don't wear scents, I do enjoy being clean and fresh and use better soaps that often have fantastic but subtle aromas. I've tried wearing a full beard but it's way too scraggly so I've settled for just my mustache that people sometimes comment about.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The last book I read was "When God was a Woman", a true history that knocked my socks off! It changed the way I look at everything now - politics, religion (so much was stolen from those early Deities!) but especially the way I look at myself and my actions towards and about women.
Music has always been part of my life - I've played trumpet, the fun oompah tuba, tried the oboe for a while; and actually created a church choir. Now I prefer listening - rock is always a fun favorite but recently I have rediscovered classical music.
Food! Ah food! I do watch my food pretty carefully and just bought a bamboo steamer for my veggies, but dearly love to eat out because I am a terrible cook (burn water if I am not careful) Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese are five-star attractions for my palate.
Six things I could never do without
Well besides the four essentials of fire, water, air and earth I'd go bonkers without touch! Gentle loving touch is such a vital need for me to give and receive. Not just physical - touch includes words spoken, feelings shared.
I suppose I should include computers and the internet because the net has largely replaced school, stores and much entertainment in my life. My laptop gives me the platform to write - love to write about almost anything.
Transportation. I try to use our local TriMet buses and trains wherever I go here in Portland. It makes me so much more aware of my community, keeps me walking. (And I guess it may also serve to improve my patience in waiting! LOL)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How wonderful it might be to meet someone special. Since you're reading this it's no great news to you, right?! We all want someone in our lives who will eagerly accept - and return - affection, contribution and joy to our lives. That's probably number one. After that comes thinking and planning for my current 'career' - teaching and making house-calls to help other seniors have more fun with their own computers. After that come all the bajillion little thoughts that flicker in and out of our consciousness - get milk, clean the fridge, do the laundry, pay bills, on and on.
On a typical Friday night I am
Glad the weekend is here! Sure I have lots of time free during the week, but that old feeling that the weekend is for fun and play just never seems to have gone away.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Oh my. We all have things that might shock some and reassure others - it's so dependent on our outlook on life, our way of living, isn't it? I can say that my health continues to be quite good - of course I do get regular annual checkups but meantime I seem to keep boppin' along. My meds? No prescriptions - I do take a baby aspirin and a multivitamin daily.
You should message me if
If you feel the connection! Some of us know when that feeling touches just that right spot. If that has just happened to you well what are we waiting for? LOL ('LOL' means 'Laughing Out Loud' in case you were wondering)
