My self-summary
I've been around. A nomad in a way, having lived in diverse places and travelled to many more for work.
Concerned about the world we share, a beautiful place I love to explore.
Enthusiastic about the sum of knowledge there is to learn, trying to understand how our past shapes our future and how we may shape it.
A dreamer in my way, fiction in all its forms (including the computerised) a fuel.
I have a long term partner that I love (see above) but I feel I have not explored relationships enough and would like to live again the transformation of acquaintance into intimacy.
I'm occasionnaly in Antananarivo, Kinshasa, Moroni, Phnom Penh and elsewhere.
What I’m doing with my life
Always curious, wanting to learn and live more.
I try to help our world become a better place by the choices I make (but like us all, am full of contradiction). My job is to contribute to bringing lasting water to unlucky places. I perhaps spend too much time at this…
When there is time, I do wood-cuts, try to keep a travel blog, try to write a story.
I was a couchsurfer but have been doing less of that in the past couple of years.
The first things people usually notice about me
Unruly or very short hair, sideburns and small glasses, a deep voice. Perhaps I give an impression of seriousness, but it is only an impression for I am a mixture of serious and fun.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Corny as it may sound: world books, world music and world food!
I have a feeble for the Mediterranean though… and I like science fiction (from Ursula Le Guin to Alasdair Reynolds — Paolo Baccigalupi!).
Lists are anchors, so here are just a few more names, relatively recent discoveries:
Roman noir / crime – Leonardo Padura (the whole Mario Conde thing is brilliant, but as is El Hombre que Amaba los Perros)
Fantasy – Jean-Philippe Jaworski (Même pas mort is a great well researched story set in the early Iron Age)
Music – Concha Buika
Cartoon / anime – Isao Takahata's Princess Kaguya
Comic / graphic novel – El Arte de Volar (Kim and Antonio Altarriba)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The way our world moves and how it could be a better place.
The way my life moves and where it is going.
Things to add, things to take away.
The two of us
