My self-summary
My best friend introduced me to her MFA cohort as an "über dyke-y Daria Morgendorffer."
What I’m doing with my life
I coax cooperation from curmudgeonly technology by day; nights and weekends, I struggle--at a glacial pace--to cobble together ideas, words and pictures into something devastatingly beautiful.
I’m really good at
•building IKEA furniture (seriously, you have no idea),
cooking vegetarian entrees people swear aren't,
•illustrating abstract concepts with concrete examples
•organizing information,
•subway platform pre-walking.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'd guess 'beard' or 'lazy eye' but most folks think I'm gay.

Color me quizzical (and super flattered).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I'm an unrepentant bookworm so it's probably better if I just stick to recent stuff: Lauren Beukes' Broken Monsters was just fucking fabulous.

Movies: I essentially haven't stopped thinking about Whiplash since I saw it.

TV: I am over-the-moon about Orphan Black--pacing flaws, plot contrivances and all.

Music: If it were possible I could pull up stakes and move into the textures of Godspeed You Black Emperor!’s Lift Your Skinny Fists like Antennas to Heaven.
Six things I could never do without
cold brew coffee
• space/quiet (Briggs-Myers: INTJ)
• Internet access
• curiosity
craft beer
I spend a lot of time thinking about
analog technologies, anarchists collectives (in general, starting one), Art, Cinema, entheogens, fine art photography, free speech, gender theory, Iceland identity-as-performance, intimacy, morality (how arbitrary it is), narratology (good stories, their grammar), pornography (feminist produced, intersections with Art), public vs. private, synesthesia and travel
On a typical Friday night I am
Unless there’s something great opening at IFC, I am probably Netflix-ing or reading in an effort to recover from whatever debauchery (imagined or otherwise) transpired the previous evening.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
To steal a line from Ani DiFranco: "if there's something you wanna know, just ask."
You should message me if are curious.
