My self-summary
A small town boy who's slowly realized he's spent more years in The City than anywhere else....

I'm a techie who'd just entered online dating in 2010. After a series of long term relationships, I'm hoping to meet someone who's also learned from such experiences. I love to travel and see this period as simply another new adventure.

I'm formerly well-educated. But I've found that running my own consultancy, volunteering, and serving on non-profit boards have taught me much more.

Water makes me happy. I drink lots of it, and I crave being near or in it. Yet, it's been far too long since my last Scuba trip. I swim regularly, practice yoga, and find I'm now biking more and more places. Would you be up for a spin?

I enjoy folks with a good humor who don't take themselves too seriously. Especially those who are socially conscious and politically aware.

If you're curious to find out more about life, it'd be fun to meet. Maybe we'd even want to share a path.
What I’m doing with my life
I've managed to go from the salaried corporate world to having my own technology consultancy. And the business has been good for me for over 20 years. While I will work late hours or rare weekends, I do a good job of balancing other important things in my life. Running my own business lets me capriciously take time off on occasion. And I'm getting pretty good about taking longer vacations more often.
I’m really good at
...providing a quick sense of humor when needed to leaven a situation. I'm also told I add a lot of adventurous energy.

...taking conversations to the next level. Dialogue's important for any healthy, growing relationship.
The first things people usually notice about me
My mischievous eyes - and then my friendly Midwestern disposition.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music: Eclectic. Ranging from Western Classical to 80s pop, from
Ragtime to folk music from around the world. I suppose I'm not keen
on Country & Western, Rap, or Hip Hop -- but I might be

Film: anything directed by Ridley Scott, Pedro Almodovar, the Coen
brothers, Todd Haynes, Abbas Kiarostami, Ang Lee, Gus Van Sant,
David Cronenberg; anything starring Matt Damon, Julianne Moore,
Johnny Depp, or Meryl Streep; with an obvious bias towards science
fiction and queer cinema because anything is possible.

Theatre: recently The Importance of Being Earnest (Broadway), and
Nixon in China (Lincoln Center). Theatrical excursions are usually
due to friends attempting to make me more cultured. ;-)

Books: my bedside table has a tower of unfinished travel guides
from recent trips, a Philip Dick collection, and two new books by

Folks wonder how I can do so much in a week, but I'm one of those
rare few without a television. No problems with it, just little
time for it. I'm busier with The Times, listening to NPR, and being
with friends. Be assured that during SuperBowl parties, I'm the one
glued to watching the commercials.

Although I eat to live more than live to eat, I'm rather
adventurous. I'd prefer trying a wide assortment of foods with you,
and can't even remember the last time I sat down to just steak and
Six things I could never do without
(stay tuned... I'm still letting go of things to try this out...)

1) My Wallet
2) My Passport
3) My iPhone
4) My Swimsuit

I) Breathing
II) Friends
III) Family
IV) Water (lots of it!)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My blissful meditative response:

Why is it that folks greatly underestimate my age -- do I act that immature?
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends for dinner or drinks -- because a good Friday night out makes the weekend seem so much longer.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I haven't watched Downton Abbey yet, but am fairly sure I'd like it.

Anything else? Ask me in person over a drink. I'm a fairly open book.
You should message me if
you want to.
