My self-summary
Well, my name is Dom. I'm 29 and a graduate from Syracuse University. I joined the site to start dating again and heard a lot of great things from this one. However, I just want to talk too. I'm always willing to go with the flow and I'm just excited to meet new people from here. That's pretty much it!

Update, 9/23/2016----Have returned from travelling in Scotland for schoolwork. In Utah to look for librarian work!
What I’m doing with my life
I'm under contract by a publisher to write a book for the first time. That took me about two years but I'm almost done! I turned in the manuscript and. I'm attending a master's program to achieve a library science degree in the UK. Then, I can finally get a job to do my real job of writing!

Right now, I'm enjoying Scotland but I plan to relocate to Utah once the degree is wrapped up and find a public librarian job. Kind of like the old saying "Go west, young man." I'm just looking forward to having stability of a type of job that's related enough to book to engage my writing projects.

Update, 9/23/2016----Also, I completed my coursework and dissertation and have my Master's Degree! I'm fully-equipped to shelve books. Okay, more to it than that, of course!
I’m really good at
Besides writing, I'm good at two surprisingly contrary things: Singing and listening. I've been practicing singing ever since I was in 8th grade and have learned professional technique from some of the best teachers in CNY. I have performed solo as well as with choirs and got to perform with the Syracuse Opera Company from downtown.
Resume-bragging aside, I do my best to listen as well to other the concerns of other people. Sometimes, individuals have to talk things out and feel that people don't hear them out. I try to disprove that whenever a friend of mine has a problem that they need to talk about. I always set aside what I'm doing to be quiet, hear them out, and then offer advice as realistically possible. That doesn't mean I sacrifice being sensitive while listening, I just get the feeling that people want honesty too. I will always grant both!
The first things people usually notice about me
-My curly hair.
-How tall I am.
-My wonderfully smooth, bass voice. (Hey I can dream)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music--> I like all kinds since I sing all kinds at one point or another. Some of my favorite bands/artists are the Eagles, Might Be Giants, Weird Al Yankovic, and Fallout Boy.

Movies-->I'm generally a dramody fan. That kind of dramatic comedy that has shows how funny real situations and lives are.

Books-->Okay, I promise to keep this one short. I like comics, some of my favorite being Superman, Thor, and an Image comic called Gødland. That is pretty out there but it's fun. I don't have favorite books per say. However, my favorite writers consist of Neil Gaiman, Ray Bradbury, Philip K. Dick, George Carlin, and Bill Waterson.

Food--> Anything. Really, I'm not picky. In fact, I like trying new foods. It's the one thing that has relatively little risk and usually a positive result of me liking it!
Six things I could never do without
6.) Fast-food places. I don't go to them all the time but sometimes, you just have to have an arby's turkey sandwich with fries (that was totally NOT an ad)
5.) Second hand book stores. Those places always have cool books that are often out of print or stock and the prices are awesome!
4.) Rainy days. I don't like sticking inside writing sometimes because when I look and see a pretty day, I think I'm missing out. On a rainy day, not so! Also, I think better when I hear the patter of rain outside.
3.) Books/comic books. When I need an idea, I pop open a book or comic and in five seconds, I can start writing. They help me relax from a stressful day too.
2.) Fun things. I can't write all the time. Even though It would be super-efficient, I would make me miserable and cranky. I don't want to end up like the old man from UP. So, I look for fun stuff to keep active and to get that great feeling.
1.) Friends/Family. I could never do without either of them. My friends have given me great company and my parents have always been there for me. I'm an only child so they're especially important and have always given the most they could to insure I had a good future. My friends have taught me about things in the wider world and we've shared great times and laughs. So my friends and family, I wouldn't want to be without either of them.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Stories. I love thinking about different situations and ideas that I could write or talk about with other people. However, I don't mean that I write out power fantasies with me as Super-Dom. (most of the time anyway) I like thinking about the stories that other people have. What did this guy do to look so worried all the time? Why does that mom smile when the dad looks pensive? (Could be that the Jets lost and dad is a Jets' fan) I like thinking about these things because they make for good story material and are really fun to expand on. Another thing I think about is what new thing I can do next. I love that because I usually have fun when it happens! Whether it's a movie, stores, hanging out, talking about new music, playing ultimate Frisbee, recording my voice to make it sound like Alvin the chipmunk or anything else. I'm always ready for fun and up for any suggestion that someone might have.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually, I go out to eat, head to the mall, or something unexpected. I try to do something new so that I get news ideas to write about and to give my brain something new. That and honestly? Doing something unexpected each Friday makes me feel like I'm Link, going on a new adventure every time!

Ammendment 12/13/2015: I've been enjoying the music scene lately and as such, love to go to indie bands performing in pubs, bars, or little show like that. Local music is a favorite of mine and I like showing support.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'd rather get to know someone before I start talking about those kind of things.
You should message me if
Message me if you want to talk. That's all I'd like to hear. I'm always looking for new books to read and I never turn down a suggestion!

First and foremost: While being mindful and respectful of the majority culture that comprises Utah and the Salt Lake area, I am not LDS. I do not have any intention nor desire to convert. That's all I have to say on the matter.

Also, I would prefer talking either through an IM of some kind, though I do enjoy passing messages along. I like getting the chance to know someone more actively and providing the same option to another. It's only a preference, not a rule. I don't want anyone to feel awkward about saying hi to me. If you want to talk through only letters and keep it that way, that's cool. I just like talking actively and also feel it would be more helpful to anyone who want to know me more realistically.

Hope to hear from you soon! :^)
