My self-summary
I'm an aspiring pastry chef who studied at the Art Institute of Atlanta. Before that, I worked in a bookstore for 8 years and studied music at Berklee College of Music in Boston. I recently started a brand new job at a very well-known bakery in downtown Atlanta!

Random facts about me:
1) I cried, and I mean CRIED, tears of joy when Arcade Fire won the Grammy for Album of the Year.
2) My mom owned a candy store when I was a kid. I made a lot of friends that way!
3) I'm a published music journalist who briefly worked for Paste magazine. I occasionally got to interview bands!
5) I could spend hours in a record store as long as there's some place to take bathroom breaks.
6) I hate peanuts but I love crunchy peanut butter. I hate tomatoes but I love tomato soup. Go figure. (Tomatoes? I know that's the correct spelling but it looks weird and is freaking me out.)
What I’m doing with my life
Working in a bakery, and hopefully saving enough money to start my own bakery someday. I run a small cake catering business with my mom in my free time, and I'd love to turn it into a real business. Right now I'm just working, enjoying my free time, and trying to get the most out of life.
I’m really good at
Baking, cooking, singing, recommending new music to people, remembering people's birthdays...

I have a photographic memory which comes in handy. And if you tell me your birthday, I can tell you accurately what celebrities are born on the same day. It's a handy party trick.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm just gonna be honest. I am a big girl, but I carry most of my weight in the, uh, chest area. So probably that.....

If you're not into big girls, you probably won't like me. I realize that's not for everyone. But trust me, you're missing out! I have no body preference when it comes to men. I love both skinny, pretty boys and chubby guys. As long as they appreciate me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
MUSIC IS MY LIFE!!!! Current favorites: Dum Dum Girls, Wye Oak, Beach House, Bat for Lashes, Lykke Li, Spoon/Divine Fits, Wild Flag, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Smiths, Frank Ocean, Superchunk, Arcade Fire, Wild Beasts, Grizzly Bear, Fiona Apple, Purity Ring, Dirty Projectors, Chairlift, First Aid Kit, Grimes, M.I.A., St. Vincent, The Walkmen, The xx, Robyn, Best Coast, Death Cab for Cutie, The Decemberists, The National, Neko Case. Also really into 1950s/60s stuff like Buddy Holly, The Shangri-Las, The Ronettes, etc. I've been getting into pop music and R&B again, like Miguel, Drake, Rihanna, and yes, Katy Perry. I thought as you got older you were supposed to drift away from that stuff, but I'm taking the opposite route.

I am obsessed with any and all music on Merge Records - aka the Greatest Record Label of ALL TIME.

FAVE MOVIES: Lost in Translation, The Dreamers, Blue Valentine, A Clockwork Orange, Melancholia, Capote, Ladies and Gentlemen The Fabulous Stains, Rosemary's Baby, Almost Famous, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Breathless, An Education, Black Swan, Beginners, Belle de Jour, Junebug, anything and EVERYTHING Wes Anderson. Also I love anything on TCM, especially old screwball comedies from the 1930s and 40s, like Bringing Up Baby, The Awful Truth, His Girl Friday, etc.

FAVE TV: GIRLS (thank you Lena Dunham for making a show about my life), 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, New Girl, Mad Men, Happy Endings, Louie, Conan, Portlandia, SNL

FAVE AUTHORS: Zadie Smith, Nabokov, Nicole Krauss, Salman Rushdie, Jeffrey Eugenides. I also really love biographies, especially of musicians and performers. I recently read bios on Gypsy Rose Lee and Tammy Wynette, and want to give that new Grace Coddington memoir a go sometime soon. Also, tons of cookbooks, obviously.

COMEDY: Louis CK, Patton Oswalt, John Mulaney, Tig Notaro, Chelsea Peretti, Amy Schumer, Marc Maron (WTF!!), Kurt Braunohler, How Was Your Week with Julie Klausner!!, so many great ones out there now. I am a devoted "Friend of Tom" - if you know what that means, we'll probably be fast friends.
Six things I could never do without
My iPhone (I'm horribly addicted, I know, I even sleep it with it next to me), my bed, music, gummi bears, rainy days, laughter.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Music, cute guys, new recipes, daydreaming about travel plans that I will hopefully someday get to put into action, weird jokes no one will get except me and maybe 3 other music nerds on the planet. I think about Jon Wurster from Superchunk a lot. And whether or not he's thinking about me. I'm TOTALLY KIDDING!! Yeah, he's DEFINITELY thinking about me, duh. That man is my dream man in every way.

I also spend a lot of time thinking about stupid stuff, like whether or not Madonna has ever met Morrissey. Or if ladybugs can be male. (Google search reveals: THEY CAN! Did I just blow your mind?)
On a typical Friday night I am
Bedroom dancing. Daydreaming about guys. Watching movies in bed. Sometimes I do go out with friends, but I work at 6 AM on Saturdays so Fridays are an early night usually.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm not really sure what I'm doing with my life. Being a baker would indeed be lovely, but who knows what will happen? The only thing you can rely on in life is change.
You should message me if
you love rock and roll, good food, and think I might be fun to talk to! Or if you just need someone to make you a kickass Spotify playlist. I'm not necessarily looking for anything serious - just having some new friends would be nice. Ugh, that sounded so freaking cliched, I'll get back to you when I think of something more original.

I don't know if I says I "reply selectively" on here. I get a lot of messages from people, but most of them are either just "Hi" and nothing else, or from people who are just overtly sexual. I won't respond to those kinds of messages. I also check out people's profile once they message me. If I see someone has kids, I don't message them back. I don't even want to have my own kids, let alone someone else's. Also if I don't think we have much in common, I won't write back. What's the point?

I look at OKcupid the same way I do finding a job - when I see someone who looks interesting to me, I just send them a message and see what happens. There's nothing to lose. So if I messaged you, at least give me a shot. I obviously saw something in your profile that made me want to contact you!
